Meet Rashid White | Chief Editor of Scribe Magazine | Entrepreneur, Published Author/Photographer & Lead Tech Manager

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rashid White and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rashid, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I grew up most of my life in Richmond, Virginia. My family spans from all over the islands & America for most of us; then there are some in the UK & Italy. In some places I was labeled Mulatto, other places… the gringo or just the mixed kid. Looking back at it all… I was thankful never to fit in to just one niche. I think it shows up in a lot of my work and how I run businesses today. It is as if I was forged to be adaptable, which I like to think helped make me become what I am feel is timeless. I have been an underdog all of my life and I look for my fellow underdogs as well. Helping give voice and opportunity to those that have none is important to me.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The work I do is a combination. I am the artist; I am the business owner (serial entrepreneur); and I am still the employee as well. I work in all modes. I am a young entrepreneur (27 years old) and if I had to give any advice for someone being in their 20’s no matter where you fall on the spectrum… the real world is tough and I do not encourage anyone to up and quit their 9—5 without the means to not only replace their work income, but also have additional left over to cover their business operations and potential future expenses for life (like family or community causes/ non-profits, and other businesses and/properties). Until then, find work opportunities that check of the core of the work you are passionate about but in different areas of life. For example, I work in IT because I am able to use a lot of the skills I learned in Art and Public speaking as a high level manager that gets to build new innovative technologies to fix corporate wide problems and when I am off the clock, I get to tap into my more meaningful work that I am inspired by which is helping other artists and creatives build their brands and platforms while I continue to innovate as an artist myself and other business ventures.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my childhood friends and I are linking up to catch up. We going to a nature spot to unplug and unwind, sit by the river or beach to enjoy the sand between our toes and hear the waves of the water. Walk around the ambiance and enjoy music if he doesn’t want to make some new music or play around with freestyles like we used to back in middle school. We love to cook so I guess we are foodies since we would either try out a new spot on my list of places to try a new drink or food or what we think is the nest version of (insert here) in the area. Then just enjoy the roads and go on a ride on the backroads since we like cars and are always tuning our cars, so we make sure it maintains peak performance. After all of that sit and chill on a couch maybe watch something or show off graphics on a new animation film or videogame to see the performance and refresh rates and HDR.
