We had the good fortune of connecting with LaTina Boyd and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi LaTina, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is a must! I feel as though you never get what you want out of life without taking risks. There is no such thing as a life with no risk! Some risks are greater than others of course but I look at risks as necessary evils. Risks help you grow even when you do not achieve the outcome that you are looking for, there is still a lesson to be learned. I have never regretted a mistake that I have made because once I realize that the mistake was made, I will analyze it. I want to figure out what I could have done differently, if anything. Also, what is the lesson I can learn from the mistake to help me in the future. Risk have played a vital part in my life, especially my career. When I decided to set out on my journey as an influencer I knew there would be risks involved and that it may not pan out the way I had envisioned. I took the risk to begin my  journey, knowing that I did not have much time to dedicate towards it, I had to be smart about the risks I took. Fast forward, I am now at my two year mark and I can say that the risks taken in this journey have paid off! I am not saying that there have not been mistakes along the way but I have learned valuable lessons from each one of those mistakes.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
When starting, I knew that any brand or item that I decided to create content for that I wanted to be comfortable with the product.  This includes becoming knowledgeable on how the product works and the results that it should deliver. As far as my content style, I strive to show myself with the product and/or using the product. I feel this sets me apart from others. I personally use EVERYTHING that I receive!  I want to make sure that since this is a product that I will be showing my face with, that it is in fact a quality product. Also,  that I feel comfortable showcasing and speaking positively about the product. I do not want to lure my audience into obtaining a product that is potentially bad. Since I have started, there has not been one product that I have created content for and not used. I do not believe there are many in my industry that can say the same. I want people to know that when you see me with the products it is a excellent product. I think this has help me see the growth that I have experienced. Both brands a consumers like to see me with the products. It also helps consumers grasp how the product is supposed to work. This can sometimes be more time consuming when creating content but It’s something I am  willing to accept as a challenge. I have had other challenges along the way. I have had  to learn new technology to create my content, there has been learning curves that I have had to overcome. Also, trial and error journeys as to what type of content style is most appealing. This is something that is constantly changing. You have to make sure you are keeping up with trends in order to keep yourself marketable. The thing that I’ve learned is when your passionate about what you do it helps everything else fall into place.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a huge coffee drinker so I would take them to one of the cool coffee spots in town. My favorite foods are seafood, pizza, mexican, and soul food. I love trying new restaurants, so of course each day we would have to try the newest spot in town. I also love shopping, so I would definitely take them to one of our large indoor/outdoor malls that have a variety of eating, and drinking places intertwined.

I’d like to thank my family and friends who have been with me since the very first day of this journey.  I’d like to thank my mother, she has always been supportive of me even though she does not get to see a lot of my final projects. I have very supportive friends through Instagram which continually support me and that means a lot to me. I would also like to thank everyone that has supported me in any kind of way, I am grateful for it all!
