We had the good fortune of connecting with Ricky Feria and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ricky, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I have always been very much interested in music and never saw it as a realistic option for me until I was around 22 years of age. After going to College for Architecture, I realized that I didn’t have to motivation needed to succeed in that industry. Around the same time I had a couple of friends starting to do well in the music industry and this motivated me to give it a shot. Coming from 4 years of college where I was uninspired with what I was doing, this change in career really motivated me to give it my all and eventually it started paying off. I still have a lot more work to do and more goals to achieve.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My music pulls influence from many different styles and genres. Because of this I have become both an instrumentalist as well as a music producer. I think this has set me apart in a lot of ways giving me opportunities to collaborate with a variety of different artists in both a performing guitar setting but also working on many tracks as a producer. I do think as things move forward you see a lot more musicians also becoming well versed in music production but I was lucky enough do this at an early stage in my music career.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them to Ole Town Arvada, I live in that area and I think its a great spot to find good food, drinks and also see some live music. I very much love their Second Saturday’s series in the summer as well as their Farmers Market. I think as a musician, I have to mention Red Rocks as a destination. I love enjoying concerts there with the amazing views.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to shoutout all of my fans, friends, and family. As cliche as it sounds, we wouldn’t be able to do what we do as performing musicians if it weren’t for the people willing to support and buy a ticket. I always keep this in mind whenever I’m in any situation.
