We had the good fortune of connecting with joe kollasch and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi joe, what principle do you value most?
For me personally, I value my integrity over everything. If I don’t plan to show up at 100%, I don’t see the point in giving the effort. Ive learned that having integrity goes a long ways. It helps establish yourself with clients, create at a high level, and most importantly keeps you happy. The more effort I put in, clients see that, and it shows I not only care about the business they are giving me, but also care about my relationship with them. These opportunities show off my abilities and show my creative side, and by giving it my all, it keeps the work progressing and my skills refining. By putting out at a high level, it also keeps me motivated to keep going and make those next steps, and up my game constantly. Keeping in mind the roots of my creative journey helps me show up every day at 100% and be confident in my ability to put out products that I am proud of. I want to make it to the next level, and pushing my self to put out my best work gets me there.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I think is the most unique part about my creative abilities is my versatility. My background forced me to be dynamic, I was the entire creative department and I had no funding, so I dedicated my self to learning as much as I could about a variety of creative fields. I’m most proud of where I am now, and how I set my self up to continue growing as a creative. What makes me most excited is the vast network of creatives I’ve met through my early years, and being able to see their work. Not only does it inspire my own work, but seeing creative you know landing jobs or completing successful projects is and exciting thing to see! I got to where I am now as a professional sports creative as a result of me downloading photoshop just under 5 years ago. During the pandemic I picked up the skill, and once I got back to school I wanted to provide media graphics for our sports teams, I also picked up photography as well to use for my graphics. Now almost 5 years later I’ve shot National Championships and Professional Sports.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to shout out my creative director at SDSU Football, Bailey Wright. Bailey’s confidence in me gives me the opportunity to create at a high level. I’d also like to shout out the staff at SPX Sports in Mankato Minnesota. SPX is the sports design firm I worked during high school and college in the summer. They taught me countless skills as a designer and push me to strive towards the best I can be everyday.
