We had the good fortune of connecting with Brittany Bailey, MS, CSOM, CBBA and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brittany, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Joyful Breathing has become a place to support the neurodivergent community in the airway realm, and it has been wonderful to see the conversations starting with other providers asking questions. Unfortunately, the support is limited and the conversations about neurodiversity are limited, so to see people taking note and inquiring about how to be neuro-affirming in their own practice has been very rewarding.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Joyful Breathing is a pediatric and neuro-affirming myofunctional and breathing therapy practice located in three locations throughout Colorado. We are known for working with families of all ages, even toddlers! We assist families in their pursuit of ideal airway growth and posturing, orthodontic success, nervous system regulation, muscular efficiency for speech, airway sleep health, and more! Through the years of developing Joyful Breathing, we have pioneered toddler approaches for myofunctional therapy as well as neuro-affirming approaches for all ages. The conversation started with naysayers saying that toddlers cannot do myo, but we did not agree with that approach. Instead of letting toddlers keep snoring, we have found an approach to assist this tough age and help eliminate snoring and be proactive for many other symptom issues, which has been powerful! At Joyful Breathing, if you breathe, you are welcomed here! We respect all forms of communication, all sensory needs, and will be a team member that will strive to adapt to best fit your family’s needs!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Oh, this is such a fun question! Okay, a week in Northglenn — let’s do it.
We’re starting mornings at First Watch. It’s my go-to for breakfast. The food is fresh, the menu is creative, and it just sets the right tone for the day. And don’t skip the Million Dollar Bacon — trust me.
For outdoor time, I’d take them straight to E.B. Rains Jr. Memorial Park. It is genuinely one of the most underrated spots in the whole Denver metro — beautiful walking trails, a lake, paddle boats, a great playground if you have kids with you. It feels like a little hidden oasis right in the middle of a suburb. We’d probably spend a whole morning there easily.
For food and drinks, I love Teocalli Cocina for Mexican. They take gluten-free seriously and the food is incredible — it never disappoints.
And you absolutely cannot come visit without a day trip to Red Rocks — whether there’s a concert or not, just being there is something special.
Honestly, Northglenn is one of those places that surprises people. It’s cozy and community-oriented, but you have everything you need — and Denver is right there when you want more.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This shoutout is dedicated to the neurodivergent community. The families I have worked with have taught me so much without them even knowing! I am able to be a better practitioner with neuro-affirming approaches because these families brought me in on their team, shared their vulnerable stories with me, and empowered me to pursue further education to be a better advocate!
