Meet Nehemiah Jones | Caterer and Baker

We had the good fortune of connecting with Nehemiah Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Nehemiah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
After graduating high school, working a constant 8am-6pm hour shift for 3 years and working in a military setting for only half a year, oh yeah don’t let me forget taking directions from others just wasn’t my style. I had then realized that I wanted to be my own boss. I know… such a cliche as many would say…. I get that from my mama. I had sat on my patio every morning for a week straight with my caramel drizzled coffee really thinking and wondering what would take off as well as me enjoying the work needed to be put in. I mean that’s the point of starting your own business right? I love children so I really thought I wanted to be a nanny, that’s until I really thought “whats one thing that I already know a lot about and still have the ability to grow?” FOOD! Everyone loves food!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I really take pride in my custom creativity! I want people to feel like the product they receive from SneedSweets&Eats is exactly what they want and more. Humans in groups can relate to liking general things like your favorite color, your favorite kind of candy, favorite food or your favorite music artist, but why is it your favorite? It could be the detail in the flow, the look, the taste, the texture, something, but your reason for loving that product so much could totally be opposite of the person sitting next to you enjoying the same product! I want your product ordered to be unique to YOU! Coming this far was actually frustrating and hard due to the industry being HUGE! That actually didn’t get me down that gave me even more encouragement because there are so many people in the world and who is going to cook/bake when the cook/baker doesn’t? That’s where I win. I had a little bit of an advantage with COVID coming right along. While people were worried about their safety and health, bigger business having to close down temporarily, it became somewhat more of peoples priorities to support small businesses and that’s were I really thank my community. I’ve most definitely learned that business is not sweet nor will it get sweeter. I just want everyone to know what I do is in my blood and I always love a challenge because once that challenge is over, it will be afraid of me with how hard I will killed it!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Colorado Springs will always be home! I would be mostly excited to take my best friend to do the incline, and all the other trails everyday that we can get our feet and bodies on, I love red rocks ! Getting active is a mando especially before eating some awesome food! How can we not go to the traditional Gold Camp Road? the view is AMAZING. Now Canon City is the place to get active out doors because zip lining and water rafting is a must and to see that beautiful view of the royal gorge of course! I love tacos Tuesdays! My favorite places are jose muldoons and fuzzys taco shop, Great drinks to accommodate great tacos! Bourbon Brothers will never let me down especially because I will forever drool over barbeque, if we want to get fancy off to the melting pot right downtown we go. I feel here in Colorado you have to checkout the other cities. They all has so many different things to offer, i am still out trying to find all those amazing places myself. the hot springs would be on our bucket list so beautiful and relaxing, mini girls trip woohooo.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mother! Yeah I do my own research from time to time to learn things that she wouldn’t be able to show me right then and there in person. She is the one who has taught me all the exotic food knowledge I know, and not to be biased or anything but she has also has been cooking and producing amazing food for as long as I can remember for our family as well as other families! She for sure is my mother, my teacher, supporter as well as my work partner and I cannot thank her enough for all that she does!
