Meet Elizabeth Jumel | founder of Jumel Public Relations

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Jumel, APR, and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elizabeth, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is my network. Colleagues, peers, clients and friends have provided me with the encouragement and support, connections and leads, guidance and counsel that have proven invaluable to my career.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

Learning from the agencies I worked with in Chicago and Denver and getting involved in the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) hasve provided me with the experience and professional development that is the foundation for my expertise. I am continually engaged in learning about the evolution of the communications industry and have gained valuable leadership experience from my involvement with PRSA.

I partner with clients in several industries, providing communications strategy and the fundamental brass tacks of communications including media relations, content development, internal communications, digital engagement and executive positioning. Learning about multiple industries has fueled my passion for my work. I am learning new things every day.

Connecting back to my network, my greatest talent is making connections. Whether it’s with clients and their stakeholders or media, colleagues and potential leads, or sharing best practices among my peers, relationships are everything.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

We would head straight for the mountains – any time of year. Stay in a little cabin or condo with great access to hiking trails and a lake or river for paddle boarding. Or skiing and spa’ing. Almost any mountain town would do, but my favorites are Telluride, Crested Butte, Marble, Basalt, Keystone and Breckenridge. A little shopping, all the great restaurants and bars, and any other diversions stumbled upon along the way would fill our days. This state is so beautiful, and I know my best friend would love exploring and seeing the beauty from any vantage point as much as I do.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?

It’s impossible to have one shoutout. First is to the person who shared my name…Erin Collins Rist, owner of Gather: Event Marketing and Brand Building. She is an inspiration to me both personally and professionally. It is the encouragement and support of other entrepreneurs like Erin that keep me going.

Second shout out is to the first person I truly saw as a mentor, Meredith Bagnulo. She founded her independent PR practice, Bagnulo Communications, several years before me and I looked to her for all the tips on getting my own business started. I still turn to her for advice to this day. We’ve shared best practices, leads and story after story about work, family and anything else going on in our lives. What started as a business relationship has evolved into a treasured friendship.

Third and most important shout out is to my husband, Nic. I am thankful every day for his support and love.
