We had the good fortune of connecting with Spencer Laster and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Spencer, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I’ve been a musician for most of my life and that was always my passion but tie dye kind of just fell into my lap. I started acid washes all my old shirts at first lol So I’ve always loved creating and I’ve always wanted to make a business out of it. To have freedom to create and just live my life is the end goal.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So like I was saying earlier, I’ve always been driven to create. Music was a passion of mine, I acted as a kid. I just love to play and make things that make people feel good. And tie dye is beautiful when it comes to that. I don’t think anyone can say a colorful tie dye shirt won’t put a smile on their face. It hasn’t been easy getting here. Music hasn’t worked out quite how I’d like it to but when I discovered tie dye I was blown away by how much success I was seeing compared to making music. So now I plan to combine the 2 in more ways. But honestly not too much sets me apart quite yet. I think some of my designs are fairly impressive until I see the works of my fellow tie dyers. I do however try to use colors that most people wouldn’t like together. Definitely working on finding a more stand out look. I want my brand to continue to grow and evolve.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It would probably be mostly food spots lol I like to eat and so do a lot of my friends. I would say Just Be Kitchen is one of my favorites or I’m at Bagel Deli often too. Otherwise I’d say maybe hit downtown for Ginn Mill’s or Larimer Beer Hall for drinks. Definitely would have to stop by Colorado Harvest Company for my 420 friends. There’s just so much to do in Denver it’s hard not to find something to do. I love it. Of course when put on the spot I usually can never answer this kinda question lol

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My best friend Anna. She’s been by my side through more than most people I’ve met. I wouldn’t be as far along if it wasn’t for her.
