We had the good fortune of connecting with Lucy Eden and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Lucy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my first business in the fourth grade and I’ve been an entrepreneur ever since. I love the freedom, control, and creativity involved in being an entrepreneur. It’s not always easy but if you love what you do, it doesn’t feel quite like a job.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m primarily a romance author, which is an incredibly creative endeavor. However, I am also a digital artist. I design mugs T-shirts stickers. I also create products like body butter and candles and other merch that’s related to my career as a romance artist. I’m really proud of the fact that I am able to create a brand through my stories and content that are really close to my personality. My tagline for my brand is funny, dramatic and steamy and I feel that is the perfect embodiment of my personality.
I’m happy where I am today, but it was really a mental and emotional journey, rather than a financial one. The toughest part of achieving success is believing that it’s possible. Once I built up that belief in myself the rest was easy.
I’ve learned that there are no shortcuts to success. The key to longevity is really liking what you do and believing in what you do because it gives you strength to keep going on days you want to quit.
I really hope that my stories and creations make people a little happier. My goal is to give people a respite from neverending circus that is the world we live in.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Brooklyn NY, so if my best friend was visiting we’d probably hang out near Prospect Park because there are so many museums and amazing restaurants. Of course, the city has so many amazing touristy sites, like the statue of liberty and times square, but me and my best friend are all about places where we can eat and drink.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There have been a lot of people who inspire me, directly and indirectly, but if I had to narrow it down, I would definitely give a shout-out to my mother & my middle school English teacher, Ms. K.
