One of the most rewarding things about getting to know so many entrepreneurs is seeing first-hand how many of them are focused on so much more than just financial results. So many of the folks we connect with are focused on having a positive social impact on their community or the world at large. Check out some of these amazing folks below.

Kylee Sparx | Artist, Event Curator, Painting Instructor

My mission statement is “To spread love and human connection through artistic expression. Art is empathy.” I believe art is an incredible path of personal healing and to connect deeper to yourself and your fellow human. As an artist in my personal work, I use familiar imagery to connect people though strong emotions. Such as nature, animals, the divine famine which for me symbolizes mother nature. I want the viewer to think of themselves and controversial current events that connect us on a humanitarian level. Sometimes it’s surrealism that is meant to provide an escape from reality and purely encourage creativity. As an event curator I simply want to bring people together celebrate art and community. Sometimes its a guided painting course to encourage everyone to reap the benefits of creation. Other times is an art showcase to highlight artists from around the world or up and coming artist in the community. Read more>>

Colleen Smith | Writer, Art Director, Multimedia Communicator

Media bashing has been around for a while, but in recent years escalated under a president who promoted the idea of “fake news” and echoed Stalin by calling journalists “the enemy of the people.” Quite the contrary is true from my point of view as a communicator, a story-teller, an author, a novelist, a journalist and art director and screenwriter and filmmaker. Through our communications, we’ve helped promote nonprofit organizations and their missions and their communities and their fundraising events. We’ve helped shed limelight on musicians and artists, architects and leading-edge individuals and organizations. We’ve helped people learn more about gardening, crafts and design projects that bring beauty and joy. We’ve helped explain complex problems such as child abuse, youth homelessness, poverty. My writing has included international assignments that helped bridge our world through understanding and communication. Read more>>

Catherine Blackwell Hess | Farmer

When people think about agriculture, they most often think of the environmental impact. I think it is really important to not lose sight of the social impact too. After all, what is the human race without land? A second thought, what good is land without soil? Soil erosion has caused civilizations to collapse throughout history. Why would right now be any different? I think that’s why local farmers markets and real organic movements are growing with such pace. There is more to them than calorie production. It is about nourishing the land so that the soil is replenished with all of the vitamins and minerals we need to nourish ourselves. Farming can be one of the most extractive practices when mismanaged, so it’s important that all of us know which type of farming we are supporting if we want a life-sustaining planet. Read more>>

Nora Claire | Creator & Collaborator

I might argue that humans need connection more than we need anything else. We seek understanding. When we feel understood, we feel safe. Disconnection leads to dis-ease in the mind, body, and spirit. Archipelago was created as a place and a community centered around a depth of connection that many people lack in their day-to-day lives. Our clubhouses are places where we have celebrated, mourned, experienced peak states of consciousness, life-shifting conversations, countless family meals, and workshops that have changed the way we experience ourselves and the way we show up in the world. Tam John | EatRight-LiveWell™ Founder, Wellness Consultant, Author & Recipe Creator

The concept of healthful eating is confusing. The commercial food supply is largely a mess; laden with chemicals, depleted soils and livestock operations that are unnatural at best and often inhumane. Everyone’s health reflects how their food is grown, raised, and manufactured. Marketing is genius with claims, reviews, and Pro endorsements contrived to sell manufactured food. Not all healthy food is healthful for all. The evidence is in the growing trend of food allergies and intolerances. These are the basis of dis-ease and hundreds of auto-immune diagnoses. EatRight-LiveWell™, the wellness consultancy I founded offers a personalized, customized and holistic approach for people to repeal the dis-ease and their adverse signs, symptoms, and waning vitality. Through 1:1 Personalized TeleWellness Consultations, nutritional testing, professional nutritional supplementation, its Richway & Fuji Biomat® distributorship, we guide people to choose well within a plan and resources (time and money) that works for their lifestyle. The CK Health and Wellness platform is making health and wellness more accessible to more people than ever before. I strive to not only deliver aesthetic results but to improve quality of life. This means relieve aches and pains, create a rock-solid mindset, gratitude for the process, and developing a definitiveness of purpose. Ever since I was a young teenager, I always had a passion to help others. Starting this business allowed for my passion to collide with my inner nerd of science and human movement to offer my services to help solve other’s health and wellness needs. I knew that one’s true freedom came in the form of individual and personal health and that is what I strive to create with all my clients. The reason that I did not just start another fitness brand is because physical fitness is only one piece of the puzzle. It is part of the wholistic health sphere, mental and spiritual health are monumental in our overall wellbeing. In a world of bad health information. Read more>>
