We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron LaPedis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaron, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
This is going to sound kind of sappy – but it was meeting my wife. Not only did I meet her through my art gallery, but she has also changed the direction of the business. At one point, I was selling mainly animation artwork and sports memorabilia, and though that was quite successful, we decided to change the direction of the gallery to high-end fine art. We are now known throughout the world for representing some of the greatest artists there are, such as Bernie Taupin, who is famously known as the songwriter for Elton John, Ronnie Wood, Ringo Starr, Tom Everhart, Peter Max, Michael Godard, and many others.
What should our readers know about your business?
With my gallery going on 30 years, there have been plenty of ups and downs that have gotten us to where we are today. One thing I am proud of is the resilience that we have shown in the last year and the way that we were able to not only survive the pandemic, but we made it one of our most successful years ever. I feel that COVID was the true litmus test for the strength of all businesses; it pushed people and companies to the limits in the way of handling their business, and unfortunately, some companies failed. I’m happy to say that we were able to pivot and were prepared for all of the hurdles that the pandemic threw at us. Thanks to a great staff, we were able to come out on the other side stronger than ever.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
During the day, you can’t go wrong with a visit to the Denver Zoo, which I think is one of the most amazing zoos in the United States. I would also recommend going for martinis and cigars at Churchill Bar in the Brown Palace, having a great dinner at Shanahan’s Steakhouse, and going for a nightcap at the Halcyon’s Elevated Rooftop Bar.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The community of Denver has been very supportive over the last 30 years to make my gallery such a success.
