We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Varcasio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaron, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I first started my business it was meant to be a Mobile Rowing Seminar business. I also at times did equipment maintenance work as well.
What should our readers know about your business?
Smooth Rowing; has been quite the brain child for sure, What started as a Indoor Rowing Seminar, switched to Fitness Equipment Maintenance My main clientele is/are Colorado Crossfit Affiliates, we have roughly 150 (or more) affiliates in our state So you could say at this point I am the Rower, AirBike, and Barbell Doctor. But now is the problem become how to I make this a reoccurring service. Before I was simply using a spreadsheet and cold calling gyms with an out of state phone number. I have recently starting work with a CRM database, Quickbooks, Google Voice, and a Bookkeeper. Lastly with in the week I will have a decal on my truck, so hopefully that will bring even more business. I have also put out an add to hire fitness tech’s as well. Which I need to pull the trigger on. Allowing someone else to do what I do will be the most difficult part I’d say, I have brought this business from just a thought to becoming a LLC. Challenges that I have on a given basis is when I have issues with a technical problem that I have trouble fixing on the spot, then I need to contact a technician, and keep the client happy all at the same time. IN the end I suppose what I like to make aware I’d love for my company to not only be in Colorado, but to be Nationwide!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well Colorado is an amazing State, for sure! My wife and I live in Littleton, CO which is located in South Denver area. I’d like more friend to witness the area that I live in for a few days. Littleton has alot to offer, not to mention Red Rock Amphitheater, Get a Day in Colorado Springs and if they are willing go and hike Manitou Incline, that would be fun! Get a taste of Boulder, possibly a hike, and lastly hit up Fort Collins for the last few days of the trip. Yes my wife and are very active and love to have visitors!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My wife, Jenny Varcasio. She has been super supportive during the time I’ve been running and operating the business.
