We had the good fortune of connecting with Adian (pronounced: Add-in) and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adian, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Music has always been a big part of my life. My relationship with it changed when i began making the music. It was as much of a release and outlet as listening if not more. At first i started out in what we call “battle rap”. Many battle rappers also make music (songs) or even produce. I started making music with friends i met online in the community, and at some point i suppose i couldn’t really stop. I cant imagine not creating today
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart is my approach and ability to just be honest while injecting my raw self into my music. I’m excited about the Ep ill be releasing this year, titled “Training Arc”, my brand of Christian hip-hop is heavily inspired by anime and nerd culture. With this EP i hope to blend the two more seamlessly, producing half of it my self, I’ve also begun to develop a sound i would say is not typical of hip-hop or any other genre specifically. I’m playing around with a lot of different sounds. professionally i feel i have a long way to go but I’m proud of where i am so far. Its by learning, and honestly just doing that I’ve got here, getting better each time. Of course networking as well, this is a very social endeavor!. Its definitely not easy, music is an ever changing landscape. I’ve learned to take virtually nothing personal and don’t just go around burning bridges. I want the world to know, your not alone, you are wholly and fully loved by a good God and that music representing that can and does in fact sound amazing. It can also sound very different, different is certainly not always good simply because its different but i can promise, this is a good different. Music should have and deserves as much variety and color as humans and nature it self.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In no particular order because im not great at itinerary’s ha. If they are physically up for it ( i have family that would be for sure) The Manitou incline i think is a must, if they are not physically up for it, Garden of the Gods, a go to tourist spot, but i mean there’s a reason it is right? The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo would have to make the list, because how many Zoo’s are in the side of mountain!?? For Food, Coati, there’s a lot going on there. Which brings me to Luchals, for amazing cajun seafood (drools). Bento Heaven next or Chiba bar for ramen and sushi/bowls. People also say there’s no good tacos here but id for sure have to take them to either Tacos del Gordo or Pig Latin, top 5 dead or alive, and it aint 5,4,3 or 2!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, God of course for giving me the ability. I have really good support from my friends and family so shoutout to them, and shoutout specifically Art the Poet who runs the Colorado Poetry slam for all his support since ive been in the Springs. Shoutout also to Facedefeat in Denver who runs Beats bodega, which has been a huge help with exposure in Colorado, along with meeting a lot of other artist.
