Meet Sharlet Smith | The Cherished Fool

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharlet Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sharlet, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think about taking risk daily. I believe we have been mitigating our own risk since elementary school. Being able to overcome our fears of failure when deciding when to take a risk, it has shaped and defined us from cradle to the grave. My company The Cherished Fool was created to tackle the fear of risk through self improvement.
On the daily we weight out what’s safe and what’s not safe. For example we pick and choose what shoes to buy as to not hurt our feet right? So we are mitigating the risk on how best to spend money on something so simple as a pair of shoes. How does a person who has been taught at an early age to color with in the lines, or pick a degree path that has the most lucrative return, even if it’s not what you truly want to learn? These mindsets can cripple a person’s natural ability to see great deals. Now who’s the Fool for missing a great opportunity because of fears.
Now imagine you are finally brave enough to start your own business. Let’s say you’ve saved up a pretty nice nest egg of money. How likely are you going to invest that money into yourself? Not likely based on current trends and culture. We were not taught to take risk on ourselves or our dreams. We were asked to weigh out our best options and shot for the best chance of success.
The Cherished Fool is a game changer in realizing that you already have what’s needed to succeed in YOU! The fool is stigmatized for taking a leap of faith. The fool is looked at as childish for following their dreams. How about changing the mindset on mitigating risk when it comes to YOU! If you decide to take a leap of faith and start investing in yourself, and you succeeded…Then you wouldn’t be a fool right? You would be seen as successful and validated.
However failures are a big part of growth and personal characteristics. Our failures shape us and teach us valuable information about ourselves and the world we live in. No one likes to fail but we shouldn’t let the fear of failure cripple our ability to follow our dreams or the pursuit of financial freedom. It takes risk to invest in ourselves sometimes. The Cherished Fool just wants to get you comfortable in taking the risk in YOURSELF. We assist YOU in gaining the right personal tools or techniques in balancing out your fears. Being able to clearly understand yourself shapes the amount of risk your comfortable in taking with business, partnership’s and life itself. Take some time and check us out. What harm is it investing in yourself?

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’d like the world to know that we all have to connect with one another like our life depends on it. We need each other in business and in spirit. Be the change agent for good in this world.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Denver Botanical Gardens. Hands down the best place to get grounded in beauty and in people.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I give all credit and praise to God. Then I’d like to shout out my soul tribe. My soul tribe consists of family, friends, books, spirit guides and ancestors whom love and protect me unconditionally. Thank you for listening!
