We had the good fortune of connecting with Alana Basamanowicz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alana, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Helping you helps me. There seems to be this stigma around being a healer. Everyone always says to me “it must be so exhausting?!” My response is always the same as I thank them for sitting across from me at that moment and committing to their healing. One thing I always explain is that Reiki Energy is love energy. It is recognized as the Gratefulness Frequency and accessible to anyone at anytime, you just have to know how to tune into it. Some call it Universal Energy or Source or Unconditional Love. It can actually be measured right around 432-528hz and has been proven to repair DNA! Something awesome about this kind of energy is that it is endless and boundless. As a Reiki Practitioner I have been trained to be a conduit for this Unconditional Love. It fills me up first, so I receive – and then direct it into my recipient’s aura. So since I am filling up first, I also get all the benefits. This keeps me in the flow state, and able to do what I do. This is what sets Reiki apart from other healers like massage therapists, counselors, and health care workers for example. Instead of depleting my own energy to heal – I just tap in, fill up, and give love.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am super excited about this new rise in consciousness that is surging. It seems as though there is no more denying that people are waking up to more. They are demanding more. One really cool thing about my path is being a Reiki Teacher which aids in my own growth tremendously. Teaching and creating a web of healers is my way to help raise awareness. Often, I see people coming in for their first healing session and then continue to make major shifts in their lives. Reorganization takes place, and next thing you know, they are taking Reiki Level I with me! Experiencing, knowing, and being witness to this type of transformation is remarkable.

Another thing professionally that keeps me busy is working with First Responders providing Reiki and Hypnotherapy. I am so proud to be a part of this merging idea of healing the person as a whole. Being a Paramedic wife has given me deep insight into the world of those who protect us and my driving force behind this beautiful blending of health and consciousness. I’d love for people to know that I am a safe space to explore all things that reflect your soul. Spending time exploring your relationship with this can be intimidating, and everyone goes at their own pace. I really take the time and energy to channel each healing session and make it unique to what you need at that moment. Oh, and I sort of get hyped about your healing. Did I mention I love what I do!?

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Poudre Canyon is big, and heavy, in my heart. That is always a go-to for me for a day in nature connecting and earthing. Next spring will be extra important to give back to the earth and plant some crystals with intentions of rebirth. Eldorado Springs is such a beautiful drive and I love hiking there. I always go to the same rock! The Windsor Gardner is a stop – and bring everyone because the High Hops Brewery is connected to it. Pretty relaxing afternoon with great lighting for the soul. One spot I love to take people is this little rock shop in Loveland called Blue Stone. They have a Tibetan Singing Bowl you stand in and Kong. The vibrations are insane! I also love Soak Spa & Foot Sanctuary; they have these huge copper bowls you soak your tired feet in followed by a foot massage. It’s bliss. Hitting up Samana Float Center would be on the list, along with Red Rocks. Some yoga on the rocks?! Most defiantly an afternoon crystal shopping at Northern Lights, followed by lunch at Suh Sushi next door for some veggie rolls. The CSU Campus in itself is always a standout for me, I love the old feel and student outdoor gardens. More food spots on the list would be; Cacciatore at Heller’s Kitchen, Rainbow Cafe, Pickle Barrel, Modern Market Eatery, Simmer, Silver Grill, illegal Pete’s, Waffle Lab, Spoons, Colorado Coffee, 415, Origins, and The Pancake House to name a few. Did I mention I am a foodie? The Shambhala center is another place I love to visit along with any farmer’s market I can find. I feel like even a stroll through downtown Foco is exciting and playing a piano in the square or running through the fountains. My favorite place to shop downtown is Kansas City Kitty. Love to go check out all the murals around both Loveland and Fort Collins. We are such an artistic area and town; I love living here.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shouting out my Husband! I always tell my students; it takes a strong man to be the husband of a lady Reiki Master. I can truly say I don’t think I would be living in my light today if it weren’t for his support and encouragement. To me, I am the luckiest. I love that I can grow and change and take my man on the ride. I have learned as a healer it’s so important to surround yourself with supportive and vibe-matching people to keep you thriving. Tribe is also huge part of my existence. I am super appreciative to have a group of females in my life that challenge, match, and raise my whole being on the regular. A few of them and I got together, and now facilitate a retreat called Wild Woman Experience. It’s a day retreat where we bring together beautiful strangers and friends, do ceremony, drink cacao, immerse in sound healing and guided meditations, and finish it off with a photo shoot. Awesome day, awesome growth. Shouting out these Wild Women. My Reiki Master Ann Bibbey is always held with intention in my center bead on my Mala. Reiki enriches the student with so much gratitude and respect for your Guru. She deserves major shout outs from me! Another mentor of mine is Ed Rupert, Hypnotherapist King! He has really helped me to grow and blaze my own trail. And then, there’s Mom, I love you!
