We had the good fortune of connecting with Allyssa LeFevre and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allyssa, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Hi there my name is Allyssa and I created Ally’s Beauty Bar because I saw a hole in the bridal beauty industry. I have a passion for not just makeup but hair styling too and there was little to no artist that offered both of these options and at a reasonable rate. As a past bride myself I knew how overwhelming it was to find vendors that where a great match with your personality, wedding aesthetic, needs, and budget. Finding an artist that can offer both hair and makeup for the bride and bridal party without being a large expense in your bridal budget was almost impossible. That’s when I created Ally’s Beauty Bar.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Like all small business owners would tell you, our companies are our babies and Ally’s Beauty Bar has been made out of passion, sweat, and of course a few tears. When transitioning to full time as a bridal hair and makeup artist I experienced the challenge of being viewed as a threat or just a competitor by some other larger beauty companies that often left me feeling defeated and like maybe there wasn’t a space for me in this industry. At the time wasn’t sure if I would be able to make it but my passion for giving brides an unforgettable experience of not only looking but feeling confident and beautiful on their big day out weighed the bad. Not always easy to see I was taught a huge lesson that helps drive me in my company today, there is always a _blank_ out there for you. There is always a place, a person, a client, a job, and a space for you! No matter what, there is enough of everything to go around and even tho at times you may feel deflated there is something for you around the corner.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love this question! If my bestie was in town I absolutely would want to show the beauty Colorado has to offer along with all the amazing small business.

Starting with some of my favorite local places to eat I would have to take my bestie to Tbyrids Tacos & tequila, Red Gravy, and La Baguette bakery.

Next would be shopping, love supporting the small boutiques like Urbane and Delilah’s fashion track. Then making custom hats with Unicorn or the West to give us that western style.

Living in Colorado is great and having all four seasons will definitely bring us many different options on what to do. So either that’s visiting a small mountain town like Georgetown to see the Christmas set up or traveling to Buena Vista and visiting a Hot Spring and of course my favorite summer getaway being Estes Park Visiting the Stanley hotel there is always an amazing adventure.

To document the experience, I would also love to support another small business vendor, and set up a photo shoot at Garden of the gods or red rocks to capture the trip!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have been so blessed and supported in my short time here in the Colorado Bridal community and I would not have been able to do it without the support and word of mouth from brides and other wedding vendors. I hate the stigma of competition in the wedding industry and thru Wine Wednesday networking event I was able to connect with other creatives that’s truly believed in community over competition.
