We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Matsuda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Having being interested in the beauty industry since high school especially in the cosmetology profession, I knew that someday i would own my own salon. I graduated early from high school and then was able to start my Cosmo Career. I started as a booth renter with only five clients. Over the span of eight of years, building a ton of experience and knowledge and generating over 250 clients is when I decided to open my very own salon.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most excited about the success of my business, I have an amazing team and the opportunity to continue to keep growing everyday.

I got to where I am today by never giving up, commenting to always learn and challenging myself to be better.

I would say my journey was not easy. I had my fair share of struggles with the fast pasted changes of new techniques, trends. social media presence, branding and marketing I had to work my butt off to get here today but i was committed to my vision.

Some lessons I have learned along the way are knowing my value, I have to put in the work to get the reward, putting yourself out there, learn from your mistakes and not be afraid to be your most authentic self.

What I want the world to know about my brand Is that it was created with a passion of wanting to create lasting connections between my guests and I and not only achieving their hair goals but making them feel absolutely amazing and allowing their confidence to shine through. My story is proof that anyone can start from the bottom and level up by creating a clear vision of what you want and committing towards working on it everyday to achieve your goals.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Of course we would have to start out at the local brewery’s and jump around to taste new beers, You can not forget to cruse to Horsetooth for a nice hike and the view of the lake. I would definitely bring them home to the farm to meet all our critters. Colorado sunsets are one of the best so grilling some steak with my husband and two girls and watching the sun go down is a must. Sundays are for sure lake days so packing up for a day of boating, wake boarding, tubing, music and friends is the best way to end the week.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to say my Husband and the rest of my family was the biggest support. Another huge supporter was my Salon Bestie Ashely McGinn, who I worked next to for 7 years and she came along to be one of my first stylists at Blondish Beauty Bar.
