We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Hendrian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, what is the most important factor behind your success?
This is an easy one! Our Customer Service is the key to our success! Without our customer’s, we wouldn’t be in business right? And I think that might be somewhat of an cliche answer, but our genuine love for people and serving them well is what we take most pride in! We love going above and beyond your typical hospitality to create the experience that has you wanting to come back again and again! Valuing our customers and applying their feedback when possible is what makes us feel the most successful!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
So what a lot of people might find interesting is that I bought Bailey’s Coffee and Fudge in January 2019 with zero previous knowledge on how to run a business. I have a high school diploma and previously came from a corporate job in insurance on my resume. I became an entrepreneur by accident when I created a side hustle in decorating sugar cookies! Having zero prior knowledge on running a business, we planned to use 2019 to get our feet wet and then hit the ground running. As we all know Covid hit and in March of 2020 we were closing our doors and becoming drive thru/curbside pickup only. By the grace of God, the Starbucks across the street from us closed their doors for a month which sent all their traffic over to us! Our business grew exponentially! Our lobby soon became our storage area for inventory causing us to be unable to reopen our lobby once things settled down in 2021! It was a great problem to have, but the feedback was always tracing back to people wanting to come back inside. In March of 2024, nearly 4 years to the day, we now have rebranded, opened our lobby for indoor dining and continue to run our drive thru and app seamlessly!
During our rebranding process in 2023 we created our 4 core values that are the driving factors of Bailey’s Coffee and Fudge. Our 4 core values are:
Customer Service,
Consistency,
Quality and
Community.
*We strive to create the best experience possible for our customers. We learn your name and your order and over time about you. We value and see each customer as a person, not a transaction.
*We do our best to train our staff appropriately using the recipes and guidelines created so that each order is made the same. It doesn’t matter what time of day or who makes your order, it will always be consistent.
*We only use premium ingredients and are constantly researching to see how we can improve our quality by finding any new suppliers, ingredients, brands that are out there.
*Our community is what keeps us in business and we seriously have the most supportive community following us! We do our best to donate as often as possible and make sure we participate in events that allow us to help our local Salvation Army, United Way and school districts.
Bailey’s has become what it is today by developing these 4 core values and working on improving them the best we can every day!
What else sets Bailey’s apart is that 95% of our products are made from scratch, every order we make is made to order, and we always make everything with premium ingredients and of course love!
We strive to take quality to a whole new level, which also comes back to creating that memorable customer experience. .
Business is never easy, but as long as you are doing it for the right reasons, it is definitely worth it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Quincy has so many special places to check out! If you were new to the area I would want to take you to all my favorite places! We would start the day with breakfast at Thyme Square, a farm to table restaurant that seriously has the best omelet you could ask for! We would swing over and grab coffee from my friends at Electric Fountain Brewing Company and hope the owner, Ryan Christian, was set up playing some music for us! We would tour a couple downtown shops by visiting Yellow Kiss Boutique, Sassy Jo’s and end up at Platt Daddy BBQ for some lunch! Once our food settled we would definitely hop over to Bob Mays Park and walk the beautiful trail! I would then take you for a drive down Maine Street to view the beautiful, older houses and to admire the tree canopy lined street! What a site to behold! We would end up having dinner at one of the many family owned Mexican restaurants and saying “Cheers” to a beautiful day!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I love this question! There are so many individuals that I would contribute to the success of Bailey’s, I can’t choose just one!
My staff, past and present, are the best staff a girl could ask for. They see my goals and vision and they help bring it to life every day! Truly I have been blessed with the best and most loyal employees!
My manager and baker, Sarah Leffers, has been so supportive and encouraging from the very beginning. Everyone thinks we are sisters running the business together and it truly feels that way most days! She truly understands the end goal of serving our community the best way possible and keeps us improving all the time!
Agh! I am so blessed with such an amazing staff! I never take that for granted!
I also have the best mentor in Denise Tallcott from TeddyCo Media! Working with her is bringing my business to a whole new level! Her coaching has helped me TREMENDOUSLY! I am becoming more confident to chase after even bigger goals that I never saw possible for myself prior!
Also, my children are the WHY behind me doing this! There is a lot of sacrifice that comes along with owning your own business but they rarely complain and always try to help mom where they can!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone that has ever believed in me and keeps Bailey’s growing!
