We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Tallo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, what makes you happy? Why?
For me, happiness is defined by small moments that string together over time. Happiness is my first cup of coffee while I view the mountains and practice immense gratitude for making it to Colorado. Happiness is baking fresh bread and cookies and then witnessing my loved ones enjoy them. Happiness is snuggling with my pups. Happiness is deep belly laughing with the people that I love. Happiness is my morning meditation practice. Happiness is exploring a new mountain and taking in all the beauty, peace, serenity, and safety that the mountains bring me. Happiness is getting to wake up every morning with another shot at being the best version of myself.

What should our readers know about your business?
My commitment to education and progressive techniques has been the foundation of my success. I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. I am especially passionate about helping clients engage the life long process of self-healing. I believe that although we are all unique creatures, trauma and suffering are our shared experience. I am particularly passionate about teaching people how to self-heal through meditation, zen principles, and DBT skills, and I utilize EMDR to activate and accelerate their healing process. Many years ago I began incorporating an holistic approach to healing, which included meditation, nutrition, exercise, and alternative treatments like ketamine therapy. At the time, these approaches were viewed as somewhat risky and too progressive. The field wasn’t quite ready, but I witnessed the immense healing these techniques provide. Despite the pushback and challenges I faced, I stuck to my authentic values and had faith in the process, just as I teach my clients to do when faced with adversity.
I want the world to know that healing is possible. That you are valuable, lovable, and worth all the goodness that this world offers. That even on your worst and darkest day, you are still deserving of these things.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many incredible and beautiful things about Colorado, that it is hard to squeeze it all into one week. I would definitely include a Concert at Red Rocks, a trip to Garden of the Gods, a day spent on a beautiful hike, a trip to the Hot Springs, a drive to Keystone and Breckenridge, lunch at Yelp’s best restaurant recommendations ….I could go on and on! But I would most certainly end the visit with a home cooked, Italian dinner complete with fresh baked bread and cookies.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There were and are so many instrumental people in my journey of success. My graduate program professors and supervisors. The numerous places of employment that shaped me into the counselor that I am today. The plethora of colleagues and classmates who I had the honor of sharing my journey with. All of my current and previous clients who trust and invite me on their journey of healing. And most of all, I would not be who I am today without my family and friends who unconditionally love me through my hardest days. Holding space for others can be exhausting at times, and I am so incredibly grateful for the people in my life who hold space for me.
