We had the good fortune of connecting with Angie Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angie, how do you think about risk?
Growing up I’ve always considered myself a big risk taker. Ive always lived by the saying, “you miss 100% of the shots you dont take”. And like Will Smith said, “He who says he can and he who says he can’t are both usually right. Youre not gonna get what you want by not getting up and doing. And that comes with taking risk, putting yourself out there , and living. That goes with all aspects of life. You want that job go get it, you want to start that business do it. The goal is to start somewhere and when you do, dont stop. For me I took a risk at starting a business in high school, I didnt know what I was doing but I was sure of where I wanted to go. At 19 I started investing, and again I didnt know what I was doing but the risk of starting has amazing benefits at the end. You have to find something, a purpose greater than yourself but to do so its gonna be risky, its not gonna be easy. The key to remember is if you do what is easy your life will be hard, but if you do what is hard then, well, your life will be easy.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have huge love for all art but me personally I am a Dj, Dancer, Poet, and business owner. Like humans no artist is alike. We may have common interest and share foundation but all artist are set apart in their own unique way. I am what you call a jack of all trades, I have a multitude of talents and they all tie together perfectly. They are the elements of Angie. People often ask which one I enjoy or like more but I can’t simply just chose one, they’re what makes and sets me apart from other artist and defines my artistic abilities. Its what inspired me to create Prodigees project. I started my career in high school, participating in dance battles, teaching dance class, getting a dj board from one of my friends. All of it came natural to me. I found happiness and purpose in my art. Because I didnt want to go to school to get a art degree I wouldn’t use it motivated me to start an artist based business. Which today, is now known as Prodigees project LLC. Our mission is to provide a space for artist of all levels to create, produce, and influence their artist abilities to their fullest extent. What makes us different is the categories of art we offer, we are a multimedia company so we dont just focus on performing arts, and we dont just focus on visual arts. We love the idea to collaborate on all forms of art in one roof, And how? The community. The space is for people by people. Me as a multi artist, I was inspired to have a space that was like me. Multi. And thats what Prodigees project is. If youre a singer or a rapper or anything and you need a dj, Prodigees project network would be able to connect those people. Everyday as a business and as an artist we are growing and learning but there’s nothing id rather be doing. And like our slogan says, We ain’t done nothing yet.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Denver has a lot of artistic gems around. If I had a friend visiting, id give them a grand tour of the City, but the City at night. And following we’d visit Welton St. cafe for the dopest soul food and wed have to spend a day at elitches followed by water world and the aquarium! But we wouldn’t miss out on the selfie museum or meow wolf! If we aren’t worn out by then id love to take a drive to Colorado Springs and find a nice hiking trail with a waterfall.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I learned that blessing dont come to you they dont just come to anyone, instead they flow through you. As an artist I learned that humans can easily forget that others are humans and we all make mistakes, and the best part about being an artist is how im not afraid to share my truths and share my mistakes through my art. This all wasn’t inherited but taught. Taught by people I’ve came across both I’ve known personally and complete strangers. I dedicate this shoutout to artist at heart. Everyone. Because we all rely on art to heal ourselves and the world around us. As Artist we Dance to showcase how intertwine the body is with the mind. We Sing to reach harmonies higher than the heavens above. We DJ to prove you cannot muffle a soul. We Act to convey a side of us we aren’t afraid of showing. We are artist. And us artist like to do crazy things. Like inspire. We are elements of each other and I thank every artist I’ve came across. To say their name with pleasure. Mom, Nae, Davion, N3ptune, Janai, Terrel, Mike. DeAndre, S.J, Danielle, Robo Mike, Aires Jackson, Shyamuu, Rashod, Tamisha, Stacy, Alexander, Dominique, Bri, BJ, Janelle, Rob, Awar, JuJu,Marz, Kinisha, Chase, Oreo cookie challenge girl!!! and the many more I have came across and will come across. Life would be dull without you. Without us. So simply, thank you.
