Meet Beth Goltz | REALTOR® and Interior Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Beth Goltz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Beth, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I left a steady job in the corporate world with the intention of doing something I love. I have always had a passion & appreciation for making a house a home and I thought if I could do that for a living, I’d be so lucky! Initially, I started on the real estate path. I got my real estate license and started working as a broker associate at Goodacre & Company, a boutique real estate firm in Boulder. However, as I went in and out of properties on a regular basis, I couldn’t help but think through a home’s potential. If a home didn’t have the dream kitchen my clients were thinking about, for example, I would walk them through some ideas on what they could do and then my clients could visualize the potential.
Before long, I was talking design at nearly every showing or listing appointment. I started to learn that my real estate clients were really appreciating the design discussions as an added value I could provide, so I began to think about how I could officially offer both real estate & design services. I did a little research and was shocked to see there were very few people offering both real estate & interior design — to me the two just made complete sense together! My wheels began turning and I felt I had a unique business idea that I really wanted to make a reality.
I decided that if I was going to offer design services as part of my business model, I wanted a formal education in design. So I enrolled in an intensive interior design school in Denver while still juggling real estate work and being a mom. Once I officially had my certification from Heritage School of Interior Design, I combined that with my real estate license in Colorado to start Beth Goltz Real Estate & Design. What is so great about this business model is that I can help my clients however they feel they need my services — as just a REALTOR®, as just an interior designer, or as a REALTOR® and interior designer to achieve their redesign or remodel goals in their new or existing home. I feel so lucky to be in this position truly helping people make a house a home.

What should our readers know about your business?
Beth Goltz Real Estate & Design offers a range of services that people can leverage to buy and sell real estate, as well as redesign and remodel their new or existing homes. My business stands out from others as I am a licensed real estate broker as well as an interior designer that has received formal education in interior design (still hanging my real estate license with Goodacre & Company). So if a client wants to purchase a home that needs updating, for example, they can work with me for the real estate transaction and after closing, we can start working on the designs for the remodel. It is really fun talking about the potential of a home during showings and then making it a reality.
Before being a REALTOR® and Interior Designer, I had a career in Marketing. I truly think having the background in Marketing has helped me get my business started. Right from the start, I created a full marketing plan for my business that I executed and continue to focus on a regular basis. Rather than being overwhelmed on how to get started with a new business, I had the skill set to put my head down and get to work. I created & designed my website, I manage & post the content for my social media sites, I design & publish my marketing materials, I think through lead generation ideas, and I pay attention to results to see what is resonating or not and pivot accordingly.
Overall my business goal has always been “delivering a client experience that exceeds expectations.” I have always strived to go above and beyond for my clients and the fact I can offer both real estate and design services, I know my clients can best achieve their home goals. When my clients are happy, I’m happy.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Definitely a day walking around Boulder downtown — if it is in the warmer months, I like to take visitors to the Boulder Farmer’s Market and then walk on the Pearl Street Mall popping in and out of shops. Some of my favorite Boulder shops are Peppercorn, Bliss, Into the Wind, and the Boulder Book store. If the sun is shining, eating outside and people watching in downtown Boulder is a must-do. We often have luck getting a table outside at The Corner Bar at Hotel Boulderado and the menu has something for everyone! Another day would be going on a hike — St. Mary’s Glacier is really a cool place to bring visitors or if we wanted to stay local, I like walking around Wonderland Lake in Boulder. For dinner, I really like bringing people to Sushi Zanmai. They have a fun atmosphere and the sushi is delicious.
Lastly, if you can squeeze in a concert to Red Rocks, that is always an incredible experience.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It sounds cliché, but I honestly wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for my husband, Brian. He believed in me when I left a steady job in the corporate world to completely start from scratch as a real estate broker. And then as I started to visualize adding design to my business, he supported me 100% even though it meant long hours in school with a lot of homework during the nights and weekends. He jumped in to help out with family life as much as possible so I could make my dream a reality.
I also have to thank my network of family, friends, and clients. They have believed in me from the start and encouraged me building on my business model to include design. When my network sends work and referrals to me to help them achieve their home goals, it makes me so happy to have their trust in my work.
