We had the good fortune of connecting with Brandee Hommerding and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brandee, what is the most important factor behind your success?

There are two things that I find to be important to success – Find other entrepreneurs to collaborate with and continue to learn and grow.

The first thing that I find to be important to success is collaborating with other entrepreneurs. Having other entrepreneurs to bounce ideas off of as well as refer to has been surprisingly very important! Entrepreneur life can feel very isolating and require long hours to get things up and running. Collaborating with others that are in the same business space can create not only accountability but also a connection to troubleshoot and brainstorm. I find it equally important to collaborate with others that offer something different than you but that could benefit your network and clientele as well. It can give everyone the opportunity to expand their network, increase brand awareness, and serve others.

The second thing that contributes to success is continuing to learn. Learning the ins and outs of starting a business was definitely a challenge! (I’m still learning every day!) Whenever possible, I plug into free and paid webinars, trainings, and courses to help me learn not only about being a business owner but also pertaining to my niche – nutrition, hormone balancing, and gut health. While learning is important, implementing what is learned is just as important to see your business succeed. Take imperfection action, evaluate and tweak if necessary. As entrepreneurs, we are either winning or learning.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I work with clients 1:1 for a personalized and customized approach to health and wellness through holistic nutrition. Holistic nutrition therapy focuses on the root cause of symptoms and recognizes the uniqueness of each individual. My education at the Nutrition Therapy Institute is based on science and research which has provided me tools to help understand the amazing human body. I work with clients to implement a tailored plan based on their needs and desires to achieve their health and wellness goals while specializing in hormone balance and gut health.

I also help clients understand how beliefs and emotions can not only affect their relationship with food but also with themselves and others. I was able to gain more insight and education around this concept by completing a TriggerMapping Certification in 2020. By gaining the additional training with TriggerMapping, I’ve been able to help clients learn that health is more than just a number on the scale.

This was definitely part of the missing piece in what I was offering to my clients. Before gaining this certification, I was finding it difficult to provide my clients with the tools to not only see success in their wellness journey but also sustain the success they had. I also adjusted my offerings to provide clients with better support, education, and resources. What I love about being an entrepreneur is that I can make adjustments to better serve my clients’ needs.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

There are so many great places to go! RiNo is one of my favorite parts of the city to visit. From the graffiti art to the amazing restaurants and small shops, we could spend a whole day there – brunch at Crema Coffee House, a beer at Improper City, and a cocktail at Block Distillery.

We would definitely spend some time in my own neighborhood – Park Hill. There are so many great establishments just a short bike ride away – Esther’s, Tables, Long Table, and Torpedo Coffee are some of my favorites!

An afternoon to the antique shops on Broadway is a must as well!

A trip to Denver is not complete without a trip to Red Rocks! With any luck, there will be a concert that we can snag a couple of tickets to. A concert a Red Rocks is unlike any other concert experience.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Huge should out to Laura King at Wild Cabin Studio! She’s not only an amazing friend but also created a beautiful website and brand for me. She has been a rock in helping me brainstorm my offerings and how to increase my visibility.
