Meet Bret Wickstrom | Accountant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Bret Wickstrom and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bret, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
The main reason I keep going is due to the very thought of having to reinvent myself is more scary than to keep going. Yet, even though things don’t always go perfectly I work on those things that fail, and make improvements on those areas which have or are failing. After that I just keep moving forward.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I began my Company in 1994 around the time that I started as a bookkeeper/accountant. The idea behind that I am not working for just one organization but many companies who need help in the accounting, payroll, cash management areas in their business. I am available to assist them in those areas and needs so they are free to focus on those areas very important to them and their businesses. I’ve worked with multiple industries and will travel and work out of their offices as the need arises, so I am mobile and free to visit their company’s in person. In fact sometimes it’s better that I work inside their office building so that i become aware of all the important issues facing their company.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I could think of no better place than some of our surrounding mountain resorts west of Denver Colorado. Places to enjoy meals and hangouts are Steamboat, Vail, Idaho Springs, Glenwood Springs. We would visit a lot of the small locally owned restaurants or bars and stay in some of the nicer hotels in those areas. We would walk the streets in the small towns and get a feel of the local culture.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Father Charles, he has been a mentor of mine since I became an accountant. It should be noted he is an accountant himself and was a large part of my journey.
