We had the good fortune of connecting with Caitlin Lizza and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Caitlin, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Honestly, I had a really hard time landing a typical 9-5 corporate job after I graduated and so I decided to try something new for myself. I had always enjoyed taking pictures of everything and posting on Instagram and after following a few photogs on Instagram I was really drawn in to the wedding industry. I soon realized I absolutely loved capturing love between a couple and their family and friends. There’s nothing better than seeing the whole day come together!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a Denver-based engagement, wedding and family photographer. I started my business in 2017 and it has been slowly growing since. I couldn’t have gotten where I am today without friends and family support. Word-of-mouth has truly helped me expand my business and I’m so grateful for every single referral I receive. It’s one of the best compliments and easiest way to support local business owners. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned along the way is to know when to ask for help! Whether it’s reaching out to a professional for legal/contract consultations or other photographers in the industry for guidance, knowing when to ask for help is everything that has helped my business grow and succeed. One thing I want the world to know about Caitlin Lizza Photography is this: I want to give you your memories in the most authentic form I can. I’m here to snap your wonderfully weird giggles, inside jokes, booty grabs and forehead kisses to show what your love really is. I’m all about capturing those simple, little moments with big emotions. The moments that make your heart dance.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Definitely my hometown of Golden, CO – cute little town with fun shops to explore with lunch at D’Deli or maybe dinner at Indulge Wine Bar. I also love Evergreen, or take a drive up i70 West to Loveland Pass to take in some spectacular mountain views. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to give a shoutout to my parents and family for always supporting me. They’ve been my models, business/legal consultants and forever supporters! I couldn’t be more thankful to have them on my side through it all. One name that I owe so much to, is my dear friend Elizabeth Boulos. As one of my first true clients, she has given nothing but referrals, motivation and advice! Without her I wouldn’t be where I am today. I am so grateful to have her constant support.
