Meet Charlotte (Onyx) Bizoe | Tattooer, muralist, painter, musician, creative supernova.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Charlotte (Onyx) Bizoe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Charlotte (Onyx), what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor to my success as an artist, musician, painter, muralist and tattooer is to not box myself in with self limiting beliefs. When you believe anything is possible and that truly you have no limits, you will be astonished at the heights you can go to. Your goal to climb the one mountain will turn into one hundred mountains. Believing in myself and my ability’s and providing myself with positive affirmations is truly the butter to my bread of successes.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
To say being an artist is easy is to completely undermine the fact that our paintings are quite literally our pain on paper. As an artist, we are master alchemists and transmuters. If you give me the worst of the storm I will find the rainbow and turn the sour energy into gold.
I’ve been taught many lessons in my career as an artist, mainly to keep good communications and always hold equal respect for every person coming through the shop doors or inquiring about artwork.
I’ve been taught through the years that my impact is greater than I can fathom, and that one drawing I left in a coffeehouse could make it into the hands of someone who will support me for years to come.
The butterfly effect is vital to our successes.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Eldorado canyon has always been one of my favorite spots to hike and be with nature. I’d go into Nederland and hit the lakes, pickup fresh spring water in ward, trail up to Longs peak and Estes park. I’d find a good bass show along the front range. Catch a show at Cervantes or go through Spectra art space! I’d hit boulder ecstatic dance and stop by the Alchemy lounge. Then after all the heady fun I would of course hit The Crypt on 17th for a show, local art and my horror fix.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have tattooed thousands of people, and every single one of them deserves a place here. My clients (and friends) are truly a powerhouse! They are leaders in the Colorado community. Bringing fourth mindfulness practices, yoga, breath-work, bass & metal music, ritual and ceremony. The clients of AscendingAlchemy have truly built me from the ground up!
Every Shop I have stepped foot into and worked for deserves recognition here. To my mentors along the way, Thank you to Cory Correia for believing in me and giving me an apprenticeship when I was truly young and starry eyed. Serina Malec of Metamorphosis Tattoo studio in Longmont, Colorado for hiring me and believing in me at such a young phase in my career. Thank you to Andee Leggett of Rose Lady Tattoo for being the first shop I had the privilege of holding residency at in Denver. Poet of Solstice Ink in Lakewood for opening his doors to me and my clients and always being a rad and respectful shop owner and artist. Thank you to everyone who has ever tattooed me, all 53 artists so far, you have taught me so much in how to succeed, persevere, and continue learning.
Dually important thank you to all of those who have taught me hard lessons, communication, resilience and commitment to my craft. “You can’t please em’ all” but i sure do hope i’ve made a majority positive impact out here in CO.
Everyone has their own perspective and realities and it would be impossible to stay on the yellow brick road for the entire path. What I mean by this is I know I have hundreds & hundreds of happy clients, and a few select who did not care for me. Thank you to them too, all the good and not so good along the way has shaped me into the artist and person I am today.
