We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Beaven and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I don’t think I ever had a choice, art chose me. From the time I was five years old, I felt its pull. I remember sitting with Garfield comic books, copying the characters line by line, completely absorbed. Soon after, I was drawing my brother and myself, and my mom saw something in me that led her to put me in art classes.

Even when life pulled me away for five years, I still found myself in a creative field through web design. Creation has always been my instinct, my language. Whether with a pencil, paintbrush, or even a keyboard, I have to make something. It’s not just what I do, it’s who I am.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m an artist.

I’ve been creating art every single day for the past 12 years now. 4500+ days in a row.

The daily art thing is tremendously important to me and I document every single day on my website chrisbeaven.com so others can see how easy it is and do it themselves. I’m just a regular person like anyone.

If anyone is looking for eloquent words about how my art transcends the physical and is something more than what it is, you’re going to be disappointed.

I’m Chris Beaven, I paint, I draw. I create what I want to create and I change from one day to the next. I grow, I expand and I move forward.

That’s about it…

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would tour the art galleries in Pueblo. The art scene here is fantastic. Better than any other small city I’ve been to. Dinner at Angelo’s downtown or at Fuel and Iron if we couldn’t decide on one exact place. Maybe we would go to some wineries in Canyon city or close to it and also see the gorge.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s never been just me. Everything I’ve achieved is because of the people and influences that lifted me up along the way. My mother believed in me from the very beginning, enrolling me in classes and gave me the foundation to grow. My wife has been my anchor and my greatest supporter, standing by me through every season and understand that passion matters more than money. And the tools I gained through Optimize.me (now Heroic.us) gave me the personal development framework to not only excel as an artist but also to thrive in life.

I stand where I am today because of them.
