Meet Sarah Korsen | Wedding & Event Planner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Korsen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I’ve always loved planning parties for myself, my family, and my friends, but I never imagined turning that passion into a career. After several years in the corporate world, I began to feel unfulfilled and ready for a new direction. That’s when I was lucky enough to intern with an amazing wedding planner, and as I had hoped, I instantly fell in love with the world of weddings and events!
After gaining a few years of experience and learning the ins and outs of the industry, I decided to take the leap and start my own business, Sarah J Weddings & Events! These days, I get to spend my free time doing something I truly love, helping people celebrate life’s biggest moments!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started Sarah J Weddings & Events in February of 2025 after gaining some experience working for another wedding planner. My background is in project coordination and workforce management, so I’ve picked up a lot of skills around communication, staying organized, and being able to adapt when things don’t go as planned, which happens a lot in events!
Balancing a full-time job while building a business comes with its fair share of challenges. I’ve had to set better boundaries for myself to maintain a good work/life balance. Along the way, I’ve learned to take things one step at a time, lean on my support system when I need it, and trust that with hard work, everything will come together.
I genuinely care about making the experience fun and stress-free for my clients. I bring the same level of excitement and care to every wedding as if it were for someone in my own family. Since this is a part-time business for me, I’m super intentional about the clients I work with and the level of attention I give. I always want to make sure each couple feels supported and celebrated.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a Denver native with a long list of favorite spots that I love! I’m a big brunch girl, so we would definitely make our way to The Lobby (the Hangover Hash is so good!). Red Rocks is a must see, whether it’s for a concert, yoga, or movies on the rocks. It’s the most beautiful venue in Colorado by far! Water World is another great spot to go if you are visiting in the summer. I grew up going there every year, and it’s still one of my favorite places to take my out-of-town guests. For a night out in Denver, we would grab some drinks at Death & Co, tucked inside The Ramble Hotel (bonus points for their rooftop!) or head over to 54Thirty Rooftop for the amazing view. If we’re looking for something fun and different, Immersive Gamebox is such a cool interactive experience, especially with a group. Last but not least are a few of my favorite dinner spots we would go to: Culinary Dropout, Sushi Den, Machete Tequila + Tacos and Elevated Q!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m so grateful to Kaitlin Amanatullah of the former Kaitlin Shea Weddings, she was instrumental in helping me get started in this industry. I learned so much from her and her amazing team, and that experience gave me the confidence to start something of my own.
I also have to give a big shoutout to my sister Erika, who’s been my constant support system through it all. She’s walked alongside me every step of the way as I set up my business, and I couldn’t have done it without her.
