We had the good fortune of connecting with Christian Ojala and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christian, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was to turn a hobby and a passion into a business. I wanted to share with other brands, creators, and businesses my passion and showcase how my skillsets can benefit others through the lens of a camera on the ground, or in the air. I wanted to start my own business so I can have the ability to work with whomever I choose and wherever I choose.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career is something that is new and unique. There are many drone pilots out here, but not many are willing to put in the effort and the dedication it takes to be a full time commercial drone operator and filmmaker. What sets me apart from others is the vision I have for creativity. I like to think outside of the box and create unique shots that are not going to be captured any other way. I am most proud of the growth that I have had in the past year or two. I have accomplished being able to work with some major brands at such a young age. I got to where I am today professionally by being persistent and dedicated to my craft, and not letting anything get in my way. It definitely wasn’t easy, it took a lot of dedication and hard work to get to where I am today. If I didn’t have this persistence, I wouldn’t be anywhere near where I am today. I overcome these challenges by being focused on one thing, and that is to grow my business, and be the best filmmaker and drone operator that there is. Lessons I have learned a long the way are that things take time, and effort. A lot of things are going to be difficult but only the successful will solve the difficult tasks and keep moving forward. What I would like the world to know about my brand and my story is that I followed a dream, and I created a business out of a passion. My brand is unlike anything else and I want to share that brand with the world.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would definitely take people to Boulder or Silverthorne. They are such beautiful locations in Colorado that you can’t pass them up if someone were to visit Colorado. I love Colorado for their activities such as mountain biking, skiing, snowboarding, hiking, and just about anything you have a desire for, you can do it in Colorado.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shoutout to my parents for supporting my passions and helping me as much as they can by supporting me in any way with creating a business.
They helped walk through everything I need to know with owning a business, and running a business. I want to also give a shoutout to Kenny Garcia who has given me many opportunities that have sparked my skillsets and my business to other business that create more work for myself. He is one of the select few I work with currently, that has helped give me bigger work and the opportunity to work with more people in the future.
