Hi David Hudson, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The single most important decision contributing to the success of my business partner and myself, beyond choosing to work for ourselves, was embracing the mindset of relentless perseverance, continuing until the desired results are achieved. This commitment to pushing through challenges, refining designs, and exceeding client expectations has been the cornerstone of Brooks Landscape’s growth so far. By never settling for less than excellence, we are building on an already well established reputation for delivering stunning, transformative outdoor spaces that resonate deeply with our clients. This tenacity ensures every project, from initial flagstone pathways to complete renovations, reflects our unwavering dedication to quality and vision.

At Brooks Landscape, our art lies in crafting outdoor spaces that seamlessly blend with the natural beauty of Colorado, transforming yards into personalized sanctuaries that complement each home’s architecture and the surrounding environment. What sets us apart is our ability to create landscapes that not only enhance aesthetic appeal but also forge a profound connection to nature, making it difficult for clients to leave their outdoor havens. Shawn and I are most proud of our commitment to this artistry, which we recognized in the former owner’s work and sought to elevate when we acquired the company. Our journey to this point was far from easy, acquiring Brooks Landscape required months of meticulous planning, negotiations, and research to align every detail, from financing to a robust post-acquisition business plan.
The challenges were significant; even the most thorough plans didn’t always unfold as expected, teaching us the critical lesson of adaptability, learning to pivot with resilience and maintain our vision amidst uncertainty. This flexibility, paired with an unwavering dedication to excellence, has been instrumental in overcoming obstacles and building our success. We’ve learned that true success in this industry comes from balancing meticulous preparation with the ability to embrace change, ensuring every project reflects our passion for quality and innovation. Brooks Landscape isn’t just about creating breathtaking outdoor spaces; we aim to be a blessing to our community, serving with integrity and purpose, and we want the world to know that our brand is rooted in artistry, connection to nature, and a heartfelt commitment to enriching lives through transformative landscapes.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For an unforgettable week in Fort Collins, Wellington, and the nearby areas, we’d show off places like Papa’s Table in Wellington for exceptional Italian cuisine and Postcard Pizza for their mind-blowing pizza pies. We’d enjoy a serene sunset stroll at the Gardens on Spring Creek and a refreshing dip in the Horsetooth Reservoir swimming hole. Evenings would end at one of Fort Collins’ stellar breweries, like Odell or Coopersmith’s, to toast the vibrant local scene. This itinerary blends culinary delights, natural beauty, and community spirit for a truly memorable experience.
