We had the good fortune of connecting with Delwin and Melissa Marrero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Delwin and Melissa, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
Our business helps the community by giving them access to science-based fitness tips, recipes, and workouts right at their fingertips. Our community members know that our main goal is to battle misinformation about the fitness industry and provide quality information based on real data and not “miracle cures.” When trying to lose weight, most people get on super restrictive diets that can hurt their physical health, mental health, social life, wallets, and are not sustainable. We are here to teach people that it is possible to be happy, not go broke, lose weight the healthy way AND keep it off.
What should our readers know about your business?
Over at DoubleChinBurgers, we have one primary focus; People. We strive to educate our readers with science-based information about weight loss and fitness and provide them with the most up-to-date research. The sad reality is that there is a lot of misinformation out there, especially on social media, regarding weight loss. Unfortunately, the majority of this misinformation is spread from people who prey on the desperate. We aim at helping readers understand that there is no need to go on an extreme diet or work out for hours to become healthier.
Something that sets us apart from similar businesses and something that we are the proudest of is that during the first two years of DoubleChinBurgers, we focused on building relationships instead of monetizing our website or pushing products. We did this by encouraging our readers to ask questions and giving them an easy way to contact us directly. There is no doubt in our minds that taking the time to make those connections has led to the success that we’ve had so far.
Although we have come a long way since we launched our website, it was by no means an easy journey to get where we are today. With neither of us having a background in SEO, website building, marketing, or article writing, it should come as no surprise that we hit many obstacles. One major one is that we tried to do everything ourselves while balancing our full-time jobs and personal lives. After almost losing our minds, we learned quite a few lessons:
Making an investment and delegating some work to the professionals is well worth it.
Things don’t just happen overnight.
Lots of patience is needed.
Keep our end goal in mind: Helping People.
Unfortunately, life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows. Mishaps happen. We’re human.
We want the world to know that we’ve been in their position and understand the struggle of a fitness journey. We have skipped the gym, overate, and fallen off the wagon a few times. Especially over this past year in a half. However, what’s important is how you pick yourself back up. At DoubleChinBurgers, we educate and guide people to create a balanced lifestyle that allows them to reach and sustain their fitness goal without sacrificing their favorite foods, time with family, or social life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Although we are still pretty new to Colorado, these are the places we have fallen in love with and will most definitely be taking our best friends when they visit!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would love to shout out our friends Kayla and Christian over at Discover Camper Vans. ( DiscoverCamperVans.Com ) When we decided to take the plunge and move to beautiful Colorado they helped us tremendously. While we were still in Florida, Kayla and Christian not only apartment hunted for us; they even dropped off the first deposit and let us stay in their home once we made it to Colorado during the transition. Kayla and Christian moved to Colorado a few years before us and quickly fell in love with all the things there are to explore here. After a trip abroad they were inspired to start a Camper Van business to help people easily explore the many landscapes of Colorado from a comfortable affordable van.
Another person we could not go on without shouting out is our good friend, Miles. Miles is a Colorado native and was one of the first friends we made when we moved here. He is one of the most genuine supportive people we know. When things got tough he did a great job of reminding us of our why. Miles is the owner of Apollo Funeral Service. His mission is to help families celebrate a life lived and loved and guide them through the many decisions and procedures during planning a funeral. ( ApolloFunerals.Com )
