Meet Diana Ph: Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Diana Ph and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Diana, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I only felt the need of the work balance over time. When I nearly burnt myself out by not limiting my work and neglecting self care or the time off completely. Passion is great. Working hard is great. But you get pretty angry when you realize that your success doesn’t satisfy you anymore because you are exhausted. I started taking it seriously and every day in my calendar 8.30 pm is marked as the disconnection time. One of the important skills to learn when you are trying to establish that balance is your ability to say “no”. To yourself, to work, to the others who think since you are self employed- you must be really happy to work some more. Everyone deserves the balance. But nobody will establish it for you. Take control because the cost of not taking care of yourself is being burnt out. In my opinion that’s too costly.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been doing photography and content management for over 10 years now. Ever since I started- only one thing has never changed or transformed. And that thing is the “key” to your client’s hearts and these great results. It’s care. Care sets you apart no matter what you do. I think some of my biggest achievements have actually happened because I cared about my clients first. It did not bother me to walk an extra mile for delivering the product beyond their expectations. Was it easy? I don’t know. I wasn’t thinking about it while I was doing it. But I love to enjoy some good results, and that’s what was in my mind when I was standing on top of the mountain at 4am in 20 degrees weather, photographing the couple, while my previous 7 hours long shoot before that one has ended about 4 hours ago. The most important lesson that I’ve learnt throughout my professional journey is that when you have this “whatever it takes” approach- you can do anything. Oh and the sleep is for dweebs. lol
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First of all we would go dancing. Dancing salsa in Denver is one of my favorite activities. La Rumba is one incredible place that welcomes anyone who wants to have some of that latin dancing experience. Then we would probably grab some breakfast at Chubby’s at 38th street and the next day would head to the mountains. I appreciate all the beautiful landmarks of Colorado, but my routs are pretty uncommon because a) I lived up in the mountains for almost 6 years and got to see them from some different angles b) these give you the opportunity to grab the best and most unique shots. We would go to the Twin Lakes and after wandering around the beaches and seeing some hidden waterfalls I’d take us to the Independence pass. Have you seen it? You gotta see it. Then we would head to Buena Vista and stay the night over there and of course, dine at Eddyline brewery. The next day we would head to Salida to check out some art galleries, river rafting, and after enjoying that – would head to the hot springs near the Mount Princeton. Spending the night at that little resort is always a wonderful experience. The next day I would take us to the Sand Dunes near the Crestone. We would hike and camp over there. Then we would return back to Denver. Broadway, Larimer street, Reunion bakery at RiNo… Polished with the little stroll by the river with the ice cream from the Little Man. …wait… was I only supposed to talk about Denver here? 😀

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Definitely Katherina Rothman from Beflax Linen and Ilona Anderson from Saenz and Anderson Law firm.
