We had the good fortune of connecting with Dillon Landfried and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dillon, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I started developing Mile High Social when my son was born and I found myself awake at 5am everyday to feed him. He would go back to sleep pretty quickly after eating, but I found myself wide awake early in the morning and didn’t need to be anywhere until 9am. It has always been a dream of mine to work for myself in a business where I could help others in some way. I saw that in the web design industry, people were being over charged and underserved and I thought to myself, “It doesn’t need to be this way, I can do it better”. Week after week I developed my business structure, pricing, services and slowly started to see the big picture of what I could do with a web design business. I have a marketing degree which is helpful for my clients and I have been designing websites for friends and family for over 10 years. I obviously didn’t come up with the idea of web design, but I structured my business in a way that I haven’t seen done by anyone else.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a full service web design company, so we don’t just design you a cool website and send you on your way. We help our clients with simple marketing tasks, business consultation, branding, anything we can do to help them progress and grow their business. We don’t make you sign a contract and ignore you each month while we charge you monthly fees. In fact, we don’t charge monthly fees at all and never will. While this past year we have been taking on larger clients, our main client base are fellow entrepreneurs that are just starting their business and are taking the next step of getting a website online. As many entrepreneurs know, cash flow can be an issue in the beginning of starting a business, so I have found that eliminating monthly fees is much more manageable for our clients. Customer service is our highest priority and we really just treat people fairly and how they deserve to be treated. We like to think of new clients as joining our social circle, giving them access to resources we offer, connections we are happy to make, and overall just being someone in their corner that is there to help them succeed. That is why on all of my marketing and advertising materials I always asks one simple question. Are you in the right social circle?
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I really enjoy Charlie Browns Piano Bar as they make a great old fashioned and the establishment has a ton of history. Hanging out on South Broadway is a must and I never miss a chance to go to The Hornet for their amazing brunch. Anytime I have friends come to Denver for their first time, I always take them to a Red Rocks show. One of the most magical places on earth. So many other great places in and around Denver but these are my favorites!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Shoutout to my wonderfully supportive wife Jennie and my amazing son Jackson. Thank you to Vivi Gloriod, Marty Jensen, and all of Team Vivi for guiding and helping me along my journey of business ownership.
