Meet Eddie Perrote | Illustrator & Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eddie Perrote and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eddie, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is a constant factor in being a creative professional – from everyday tasks of keeping a business running to honest expression in your field. It’s unavoidable so the acceptance of this play is crucial to feeling secure in your path. Sometime’s things work out and sometimes they don’t – you gotta pay to play!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I don’t think I really strive to be set apart from anyone else – I just choose to honestly express myself and my vision, and I think there is something both unique and obviously universal in our experience of life. I don’t think anything has ever come easily to me but I work very hard at everything that I do, and dedicate myself to it in order to progress – I love learning new things, and solving problems so if it’s something that I care about chances are I will probably try to get better at it. I learn and progress through repetition, so the more that I make, do etc the better I become and the more lessons that I learn along the way. Failure is the only way to learn so being not afraid of that frees you to take more chances.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would probably take them to the museums, the beach, eat oysters, maybe go uptown, ride a roller coaster, ride a bike, ride a skateboard, walk on the sand, walk on the grass – enjoy everything the city has to offer!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
All of my friends along the way, various teachers and instructors along my journey through academia: Allen Brewer, Nicole Killian, Bill Rebholz, Joe BB, Ms. Drews, Tom Garrett, Kindra Murphy, Erik Brandt, Mike Perry, Jan Jancourt – and countless others along the way.
