We had the good fortune of connecting with Eileen Kantor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eileen, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Part of my sanity has been in setting a schedule for work and home. I have administration days, client days and most importantly, personal days. Sunday is a day for resetting and recharging. It is not a day for business. Quarantine brought us all many lessons. For me, the first was the importance of family and spending quality time together every day. In addition to family dinners, I make it a priority to eat breakfast with my boys. It is my hope that we keep these new routines as the world starts to open back up.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Kantor & Company is dedicated to the renaissance style method of instruction. Any stylist looking to learn and take a deeper dive into the hair industry would benefit from spending time with us. We also believe in collaboration on hair projects. Clients now know that anyone in the salon could be jumping in on their hair service. We do it to make the person feel fully cared for at every moment. It also make for a high quality hair styles. This methodology came from the idea of strength in numbers. Many salons have a scarcity mentality. I’ve seen this frustrate new people in the industry. By working together a new stylist develops an eye and competence for styling. Collaboration is the key to success and my team and I look forward to expanding this idea within our service flow and culture.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My family and I love the Colorado National Monument in Grand Junction. The hiking is fantastic. If you happen to land there check out the Devil’s kitchen.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Tonya Lindley who is our team mate, waxing specialist, esthetician and friend. She started her business, Essential Beauty by Tonya, within Kantor & Company. We support each other in so many ways and share a clientele. She is dear to me!
