We had the good fortune of connecting with Elise Hatsuko Barr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elise Hatsuko, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued an artistic or creative career because I believe in the efficacy of the arts to produce social change. Over the years, I have been inspired by many writers, photographers, and filmmakers who have ignited conversation and changed societal discourse.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Elise Hatsuko is an online media resource on wellness, education, and art. I am most proud of the way we have helped others create healthy lives through the promotion of nutrition and exercise. I am also excited to be working on a narrative film that will highlight the aging process. Starting my own business had its challenges, as I started from scratch with little idea of what would stick. Along the way, I learned the importance of listening to and engaging with your audience. I want the world to know about how amazing God is & the good work that He is doing everywhere!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Here in Grand County, we are so lucky to be right next to Rocky Mountain National Park. I love enjoying my morning coffee at Moon Frog before getting out an enjoying a day in nature. Some of my favorite summer activities here include paddle-boarding Shadow Mountain Lake, hiking near Berthoud Pass, and silver shopping in Grand Lake.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The Bible is really the greatest book of all time. It has given me new and eternal life and empowers me to do the work I do. I am also so blessed to have the support, love, and encouragement of my husband, family, and friends.
