Meet Chris Romney

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Romney and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chris, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
We rely heavily on Google Reviews and word of mouth to get our customers. So when I hire and train new techs, I let them know that pleasing the customer is our company’s top priority in hopes that them having that focus will continue to take pride in jobs well done which I trust will continue to be financially rewarding for us over time.
I try to make all decisions affecting customers based on what will please the customer that our company can support. The reason I feel this is the key is because when potential customers contact me, frequently the first thing they mention is how impressed they are with our high number of 5 star Google Reviews. Our company’s story also helps customers feel comfortable with trusting us with their vehicles since we are a family-run business and how I am teaching young men and women to work hard and focus on pleasing the customer.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
For most of my professional career, I have been involved in training. During college, I found jobs teaching Spanish and later creating and delivering courses to help adults learn how to “surf the web” as the Internet was becoming popular. I found that, in addition to talking and presenting to people, one of my strengths is finding ways to help people use technology for their benefit. As a result, when I started creating this mobile auto detailing, I was able to save money by creating my marketing, sales and invoicing tools in Google Sheets and also tailor my processes the way I had researched would help at each stage. Similarly, when I designed our website, I investigated how successful businesses – not limited to auto detailers – made it as easy as possible for potential customers to from click to sale. I implemented many of those techniques and I continue to monitor my business’ marketing and sales health to see what adjustments I might need to make.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My wife and I would definitely recommend scenic spots in the mountains, like walking around Red Rocks, Breckenridge and Vail, especially during fall colors. I have laser tag guns so I will invite of bunch of buddies or family friends to play at our church gym or wooded areas. In addition to fun eateries like Cheesecake Factory and simple, tasty burgers at In-n-Out, I highly recommend making your own sushi or carne asada. The ingredients are quite easy and simple, yet the experience of learning and making food together with family and friends provides rich experiences, assuming you have the time. On Tuesday or Wednesday, take advantage of AMC Theatre’s 50% discount and catch a new release movie (make sure you go to one of their theaters with the comfy recliner seats!).

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
For years I had tried to figure out what type of side hustle I wanted to start since my goal was to start something with my kids to supplement our family’s income. Then during COVID, I took a short course from my church (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) called “Starting and Growing My Business”. This course was straightforward, focused on me commit to taking steps and getting results. The principles and techniques that I was given helped me build my business plan and ensure I had a good chance of helping my new business succeed. It has now been almost 4 years and the business is going strong. I am grateful for that course that helped me finally take steps to strengthen my self reliance and take a risk while being well prepared.
