We had the good fortune of connecting with Elliot Weber and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elliot, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I love being funny and want to create opportunities for myself and like minded people to express our sense of humor. Show business, even in a city like Denver, has a pre-existing structure that limits new comers.

Competing with veteran comics for spots at the clubs and booked gigs limits stage time. It’s also harder to take risks searching for your comedic voice because you’re trying to appease the clubs and producers.

I started DeadRoom Comedy to grant independence to succeed on my terms. Hopefully, I create opportunities for other comics and entertain many audiences along the way.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
DeadRoom comedy is fun, thoughtful, creative, and successful, that’s what makes it unique.

– I’m genuinely grateful for every person that comes out to our live shows. I love connecting with the audience before, during, and after every show. I always set out to have a good time and in turn the audiences seem to have a blast.
– We don’t run as many shows as we used to and the simple reason for that is our standards are higher. We’re lucky to be in a place know where we can be selective about projects pursue. We’re really proud of everything we create.
– Stand-up Shows, Game Shows, Themed Comedy Nights, Multi-Media-Live-Sketch-Poetry-Musical Shows. (Like I said not every idea sticks). I work with talented, funny, and creative people some of our content is like nothing else you’ll see in the city.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d certainly get outside for a couple of days. I’d say spend a night down in Trinidad, Co. to get away from the noise and crowds. In town I’m sure we’d spend some time on the bike trials. Dunk our heads in Cherry Creek (boosts the immune system). Definitely hit a brewery or two, I like Denver Beer Co. and 10 Barrel Brewing. I guess we’d do all of the things everybody makes fun of dendrites for. Strap on out Tevas, hike a 14er, drink some craft beer, swing by a dispensary, adapt a dog (must be a rescue), take some quasi-legal mushrooms, and go to Meow Wolf.

I get we’re easy to poke fun at but we live in a pretty cool place.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout my DeadRoom Comedy co-founders Josh Emerson, Jacob Jonas and Jeff Stonic.

All the independent show runners in Denver.

Audiences for supporting live local comedy.

My parents for only being a little disappointed.
