We had the good fortune of connecting with Emileah Most and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emileah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Earlier in my career as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I thought owning my own business was something I’d have to wait decades to achieve. Surviving the shelter-in-place as a pregnant person actually created the perfect atmosphere to make my dream a reality! I fell in love with being a mom and wanted a job where I could have a flexible schedule, but not put aside my first career I had worked hard to earn.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own a psychotherapy, “talk therapy” private practice for individuals, couples, and families. I work with young adult and adult individuals, premarital couples, newlyweds and couples that have been married for 20 plus years! I also work with families where an adolescent of the family is struggling with an eating disorder.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love Limu coffee in New Brighton, it’s just a 10 minute stroll from my office. I love going for walks and runs at Reservoir Woods Park, there’s lots of hills and shade. My favorite place to get a cocktail right now is Earl Giles in Northeast Minneapolis! Billy Sushi is delicious! Urban Growler has good food and local beer, it’s also one of the first woman-owned breweries in Minnesota. We would also hit up a community dance class with One Dance, an anti-racist dance company in Minneapolis.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Elsa Kraus, MS, LMFT- She has her own private practice in Northfield, MN. She encouraged me to start my own private practice! Early on, she included my picture and biography on her website and referred a few clients to me so I could get a feel for the private practice world with little to no upfront risk. Liz Deans, MS, LMFT- She has been my study buddy since graduate school. We still consult regularly, basically weekly. She is absolutely committed to her own growth as self-of-the-therapist and challenges me to be a better person and clinician.
