We had the good fortune of connecting with Emma Moody and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emma, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued an Artistic/Creative Career because it was one of the things that has always come most naturally to me. Part of the thrill of being alive is having the opportunity to step into our authenticity, and our humanness. I think Art is sort of the epicenter for that type of experience. Being able to have the freedom to create, express, and build a story or an emotion or an experience through art is nothing short of magical. I have always felt like I have something within me that I want to share. An energy and a feeling. Like a burning. My favorite way to express that is through Acting- specifically, film. The ability to bring text, sound, color, light, and movement into something tangible yet vast is so cool to me. Film has the power to transport and transcend. Sometimes it just feels good to bring ourselves into a moment in time, a story, a thing of beauty. To laugh, to cry, to evolve, to see worlds outside of our own, to be inspired, and to be human. In some ways I think art can be less of an escape for people, and more of a coming-home-to. It encourages us to be fully present, to be curious, and to get back in touch with ourselves and the way we exist in the World. How we feel, and think, and act…it all can be seen and gathered through art and creation. If I can encourage other people to tap into that experience for themselves through the work I put out, I have done my job. I sometimes feel like I am on fire when I am creating. Not in a literal sense, but from within. Like there’s something I have to get out into the world. And often times, I do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Lessons I have learned along the way so far: Never compromise your authenticity or purpose for creating because of what is “popular” or “trendy”. You are more than a social media platform, and followers/likes are irrelevant when it comes to skill and talent. Do the work because you genuinely love it. Be true to yourself, always. Know that sometimes you will lose and sometimes you will triumph and every experience is a gift.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
