We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Lemmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I think the most important factor behind my success is the ability to be nimble; to flex and adapt as I go along. Nothing in life stays the same and I believe we must always be looking at where we are and how what we are doing today is driving us towards where we want to be tomorrow. When the world in which we live shifts, we have to be ready and able to shift with it. COVID and the year we’ve all been through is a perfect spotlight to that. Being able to look authentically at current processes and strategies and to make appropriate adjustments, whether big or small, have kept me moving forward. I may not always get it right, but as long as I’m able to react and adjust, the momentum I create continues to propel me forward.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own Eolàs HR; a Denver based consulting firm, supporting small businesses with their HR needs. I provide the resources, tools and support to help them build effective employment practices and mitigate the legal risk that comes with being an employer. Over the last 20 years, I’ve watched countless businesses close their doors or find themselves in legal trouble that threatened their existence; all because they had nowhere to turn for real, authentic support. I knew I had knowledge that could help them and was able to build a platform that works with their budget. Small businesses don’t always have the extra funds to hire an HR team to ensure their employment practices are where they need to be; I take care of that for them. It wasn’t easy to build a consulting business from scratch, but was it worth it? The answer is yes, a thousand times over. I love the satisfaction of knowing I’ve helped a small business and have been able to be a part of their success. I love being a partner for them and watching their confidence grow as they build practices that support their business and the employees they have.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I mean, we are in Colorado, so of course we’d be hitting the trails. Hiking, a trail run perhaps? Red Rocks is a definite must. From there, possibly Evergreen and Creekside Winery? Stanley Marketplace would definitely be on the list as well – great shops, great food and an amazing community of businesses and business owners! For a little relaxation, we’d head down to Five Well-being as well, best spa in town, hands down!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My family and friends have been instrumental in my growth and success. Having a cheerleader to encourage me when I was unsure of my next move or where I was going, helped refocus my attention and gave me the positive momentum I needed to push forward. My friends and family have always been in my corner and have always reminded me to keep fighting when I was struggling or ready to give in. They were also the first to celebrate my successes and to tell me I was on the right path. Anytime you make a decision to go out on your own or to make some sort of change, doubt and fear find a way of moving in; my friends and family helped alleviate those fears and quieted the doubt in my head. I am forever grateful to them for that!
