We had the good fortune of connecting with Fiya Mayne and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Fiya, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
The truth is, I’ve always found creativity to be the best form of expression. Even as a child, I recognized how systematic daily life could be, so I wanted to shake up the mundane. Not to mention, creating music was an immediate getaway from my home life, which wasn’t the greatest growing up. A notebook and microphone were all I could speak to, openly. I sought refuge in the comfort of creativity, you could say.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
For me, music is everything. It’s what I breathe. I’ve made so many songs in the past 15 years, it’s become all I know. It certainly wasn’t an easy path, although I’ve accomplished some amazing things. I’ve faced humiliation for my music, I’ve faced a tremendous lack of support before, the unsupportive family stuff, too.

But that’s never been what the dream is about. I never hated anyone for it, because I always expected resistance. I always knew it would have to come through HARD WORK. So, even though I faced my addictions, depression, suicidal thoughts, etc.. I always knew to keep moving forward. When people hear my music, I want them to hear the pain I’ve gone through to bring them HOPE on a record. My music is, and will always be, for the people. I want people to believe in themselves, I want people to feel confidence, I want people to feel motivated, attractive, and I want people to find love within themselves. All walks of life.

Sometimes that comes through music of different genres, but I always work to make it happen. I always try to respond to my listeners as well, to the best of my ability, for that reason. Through sobriety, willpower, through these amazing people, it’s given me a second chance at life. So, I guess it’s bigger than music at the same time.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, here in Colorado, nature will continue to reign supreme for years to come. In every town/city. We have some of the most beautiful mountain ranges in existence, right here in Colorado. If you’re the type to get out and get active, you will never run out of adventure here! As far as landmarks, I always love visiting Garden of the Gods! Beyond gorgeous and it’s natural design is unreal! For food, we are starting to get some amazing restaurants here like In-N-Out, Whataburger, and Raising Cane’s! However, the local, family owned restaurants are JUST as amazing! Colorado food is probably underrated, to some degree! As far as venues go, this is a GREAT place to catch live music! Not exactly a California or anything in terms of artistic/comedic availability, but places like Red Rocks will blow you away. Many artists love coming back to perform there. They even have a location opening in Colorado Springs, that I hope to perform at one day! If you’re into sports, you can also look at the fantastic sports teams we have to offer! Always fun to catch a game here! Denver carries STRONG sports energy! We also have some of the most historic, monumental areas in America!

From the Olympic Training Center, to all of our outstanding military bases and personnel, to the amazing Native American and pioneer landmarks, to the busy city life in Denver! You can’t go wrong planning a trip to Colorado! Just prepare for some bi-polar weather patterns! Did I mention there’s skiing and snowboarding available to participate in, every year?

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
So many people deserve a shout-out, that’s for sure! I definitely give my love and thanks to God, my Mom trying to support me through her own addictions/depression, the Mob Squad (my huge group of Los Angeles Rams fans who support me!) My closest friend, TJ Barrow, who always stood by my side! And shout-out to the Los Angeles Rams, as well as my Husky, Tundra.

I also wanted to give a shout-out to Triple Peaks Recovery if anyone needs support on getting sober! That’s where I went to rehab, before getting sober afterwards! Thank you so much!

And of course, all of my fans who support my music and sobriety journey, as well as many different legends in the entertainment industry!
