We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriela Galvez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriela, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
I think the simple answer here is to always keep going. I don’t really think of it as giving up; I like to think of it as a learning opportunity. The beautiful thing about starting a new project is that it gives you the chance to reflect on what went right and what went wrong before. You keep going, making new things and trying new mediums, so you can learn and apply those lessons to future projects. Every failure and success is a building block in perfecting your craft and finding your voice.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is my personal exploration and expansion of self. Growing up, I was often told to fit in, and for a large part of my life, I felt like the odd one out. My art celebrates my journey of figuring out who I wanted to be & the freedom from anyone else’s expectations of me. I love digital art because it’s sustainable in material and also in my life. Finding my medium and the confidence in my creative voice was difficult but professionally I am in a really fun place, I’m kind of nowhere. I am at the beginning of this journey calling out to the world that I have found my voice and I am ready to use it.

I want to create album art for artists, I also want to create art for brands, I want to travel and expand peoples reality of places they have been. I have a lot of dreams, goals, and aspirations, and I really have no idea how it’ll all go. It’s a very freeing and exciting place to be. I’m going to keep making art because I love it.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
