We had the good fortune of connecting with Giulia Cammarano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Giulia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I worked in small owned gym during my college years as an intern & later employee part time then eventually full time as I finished my master degree. This is when I decided I wanted to have a business of my own helping people on their health & fitness journeys. I’ve always been a very independent, self-motivated person with an entrepreneurial spirit so going off on my own felt like a very natural next step. Growing up, I watched both my parents & grandparents work hard & always have a side hustle, it was just apart of the the Italian immigrant culture. Working at the last gym before I moved to CO & started Evolve Strong, I learned that people are underserved when it comes to health & fitness. It was very one-dimensional….exercise & eat clean. But I knew from my own education, knowledge, experience working with so many people & my own journey that health is MULTI-DIMENSIONAL. It’s not just exercise & food…it’s daily habits, movement outside your workouts, your relationships, career, community, childhood experiences, and so much more that contributed the success you had in accomplishing your desired results. I wanted to create a space & services where people could explore those area’s of health in addition to exercise & nutrition.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe what sets me apart from many other personal trainers & coaches in the space is my education. Anyone can get a personal training certification online no matter the experience or degrees you have. Because of this, I see SO many people in the health & fitness world that are under qualified or lack the education you need to take good care of your clients. I spent 5 years in school getting my Bachelor’s & Masters in Kinesiology & Health Psychology, published a few abstracts & one study, have gotten multiple high ranking certifications like Barbell Rehab, Pain Free Performance Specialist & Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach.

These certifications & my schooling was by NO MEANS easy. I learned complicated topics, worked in practical, everyday setting with real people & athletes, collected data, facilitated research, worked in labs & studied my butt off to get to where I am today to help my clients to the best of my ability & provide high quality service. I am VERY proud of that.

I’ve learned how important continuing education is in this field because there is always new information & research coming out. I want people to know that I am not just some fitness influencer with trendy posts on instagram. I am educated, experienced & well-versed working with multiple populations of people in the space and you can trust me to take care of you on your health & fitness journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in Denver, CO and I LOVE where I live so this would be an amazing itinerary! First I would take them to one of my favorite hikes (Chicago Lakes) in Idaho Springs. Then we would go to the cute little mining downtown nearby to walk around, grab some delicious food at one of the many restaurants there. We’d probably be tired from the hike so we would go back to Denver, chill out for a little bit & off to Rino we’d go. This is one of my favorite areas of Denver because of the art scene, great food places & vibes. We’d walk around, grab some more delicious food & enjoy quality time over dinner & drinks.

What I find more enjoyable about life than anything is moving my body in some way with people I love (either hiking, skiing, taking a workout class), eating delicious food & seeing beautiful scenery in nature with people who appreciate it just as much as I do!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my now husband, Anthony. He was the main reason we moved across the country to Colorado back in 2022 (something I never would have thought of or done if I wasn’t with him) & what initially encouraged me to take the leap of faith to start Evolve Strong. It was SO challenging in the beginning, living in a completely new place, not knowing anyone, no job, no community…just a loving partner & an a massive opportunity. He has encouraged me, built me up, supported me, & believed in me every step of the way. If I didn’t have him or his unwavering support & love, I TRULY don’t believe I would be where I am today with my business & the success I’ve found over the last 3 years. So a BIG shoutout to him!
