We had the good fortune of connecting with Gregory Orosz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gregory, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
The fitness industry is probably one of the most superficial industries there is. Most people that get into fitness want to start with a trainer that is skinny, but has never had to work for their figure. This is an extremely difficult situation for me, being a Strongman, because people see my physique and expect me to not understand or be capable of helping people. I am one of a select few that have actually completed my degree in exercise science and currently pursuing my masters in strength and conditioning.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe that my biggest accomplishment in my career has been the ability to change the minds of potential clients. As I said, most people see me and expect me to know nothing on lifestyle changes and weight loss, but if they give me the chance I am confident that I can change their minds.

I think what sets me apart from other trainers is the fact that I implement my own techniques on myself before I implement them on my clients. I strive to ensure that my clients know that if I am going to ask them to do something, I am 100% willing to do the exact same thing.

Getting to where I am has been one of the hardest challenges of my life. I was never supposed to go to college, let alone graduate from college. I have never been extremely book smart, but I retain information very well which helped me along my journey through college. Starting Work Harder Fitness, in my mind, was a means to the end goal of opening my own gym. It has proven extremely difficult to get clients to commit to online personal training and stick to the written plan.

I try to accept lessons in different forms. Every client, every competition, every person I interact with, is an opportunity to learn anything.

My story is no different to anyone else, except the lengths that I am willing to go. Work Harder Fitness is not just a name, it is a way of life. Most people are willing to do the bare minimum and hope for results, but to be part of the Work Harder Fitness family, you have to be willing to push your body and mind to the limits and learn to grow from the experience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The first thing I would do if my best friend came to my are would be to take her camping on the Flat Tops because she is outdoorsy and loves camping. After a couple days of camping we would go to the Glenwood Hot Springs, because it is some of my fondest memories of going there with family on Sunday nights to relax.

We would definitely get some workouts in in my home gym. Reminisce on our college and cheerleading memories.

Food wise, we would go get some tacos at Slope & Hatch, get some BBQ at Smoke, grab a few beers at the Glenwood Canyon Brewpub, and finish up with some sushi from Ming’s Bistro. Food is super important in both of our lives and most of our best conversations have happened over breakfast or dinner.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family, especially my wife, have been my biggest supporters in understanding how badly I want to accomplish my goals and how far I am willing to go to accomplish them. Also my wrestling coach, Coach Brickell. He taught me so much about being a good athlete and how to carry his lessons from the mat to real life. For that, I cannot thank him enough.
