Meet Heather Prall | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Heather Prall and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My abstract art is centered around an untold story that calls on viewers to start an exploration of their own interpretation. The interaction between colors, lines, and shapes encourages every observer to infuse the artwork with their unique experiences, feelings, and creative thoughts. What I create isn’t just a collection of paintings; they’re like ongoing conversations, connecting what I intended to convey as an artist with what each viewer understands and sees.
Sharing my abstract art with the world is a really exciting journey. Every brushstroke, color choice, and detail is like a piece of my inner self, showing my feelings, thoughts, and creativity. What’s so cool about it is wondering how my art will touch different people who see it. It’s not just words; it’s a way for them to feel and experience things. Seeing the different ways people understand and feel about my art makes me feel really good. It shows that art is something everyone can understand, no matter where they’re from or what language they speak. Letting others see my abstract art is like inviting them to explore, to feel things, and to be part of a bigger world of human expression.
Being an artist comes with its share of challenges that demand both creativity and resilience. The struggle to find a unique artistic voice in a sea of talents, the financial uncertainties, and the occasional self-doubt can be daunting. However, overcoming these obstacles starts with cultivating a strong sense of self-belief and embracing failures as stepping stones to growth. Networking with fellow artists, seeking mentorship, and consistently honing skills can provide a supportive community and enhance artistic abilities. Embracing criticism and being open to experimentation can lead to fresh perspectives and artistic breakthroughs. Ultimately, by remaining dedicated to the creative journey, artists can transform challenges into opportunities for personal and artistic evolution.
My brand and story represents my unique style, values, and the feelings I would like to convey through my art. The story behind an artist’s work is like a woven fabric of their personal experiences, challenges, successes, and dreams. This story adds depth to the art by giving background and letting people connect on a deeper level. When you explore an artist’s brand and story, you uncover the mix of inspiration, skills, and feelings that make each artwork special. This helps you understand and value the artist’s role in the creative world.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love a mix of being entertained by the mountains and the city here in Colorado. I recently moved to a rural mountain community and have been enjoying entertaining friends at my home. The views are incredible and the sounds of nature are incredibly peaceful. There are several hiking trails nearby that would be on the to-do list.
Downtown Denver would be next on the list. RiNo Art District has a great display and there are so many fun restaurants and shops. A walk around the Union Station area is where we always take out of town guests. I also enjoy the restaurants located inside of the food hall at the Milk Market.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank my husband Craig for continuing to support my artistic journey and career aspirations. I quit the corporate world almost a decade ago and have continued to pursue artistic endeavors since. He has helped me with hauling art to shows, delivering art to clients, wiring and hanging work, giving endless advice, and supported my full-time volunteer efforts with a local start-up gallery. Being an artist and business owner is full of ups and downs and I appreciate his understanding and support through it all.
