We had the good fortune of connecting with James Israel (DJ J Blacc) and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi James, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
The main habit that has helped me succeed would be always being open to learn new things. And having intelligent people around me at all times to teach me things I may not know or would like to know.

What should our readers know about your business?
I recently started my own podcast “Next 2 Blow” on August 2022, which focuses on helping independent artist of all genres gain information about the music business and tips to better their career. I was inspired by my child’s mother T’Keyah Smith to get into the podcast game because she has a podcast and would always tell me it’s not hard to get started and one day I took her advice to start my own podcast. It took me about two months to find my lead focus but once I did my fan base grew from being a DJ to a podcast host. The challenges I first faced was not having the “professional” equipment but T’Keyah kept telling me “you don’t need the professional microphones and editing to make it happen, use your phone”. From that point I consistently dropped episodes and got better each time. I’m currently on season 1 and I’ll be wrapping up my last two episodes by the end of 2022. The lessons I’ve learned so far as a podcast host is that we all have a voice. It’s up to us how we may utilize our voice to help others in the world. I want the world to know that “Next 2 Blow Podcast” is here to help independent and local artist by giving information and gems that most people in the industry wouldn’t give out for free.
