We had the good fortune of connecting with Jannelle Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jannelle, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is a necessary part of life and it can’t be avoided. In order to progress and succeed, it is important to embrace risk and use it to your advantage. I have learned that taking risks, both personally and professionally, can sometimes lead to some hard lessons, but I would rather have that experience than to shy away from risk.
What should our readers know about your business?
Back in 2002, I met a couple selling their kettle corn equipment and thought, I can do that! Little did I know that over 21 years later, I would have taken a few simple pieces of equipment and turned it into one of the largest popcorn businesses in Colorado. I was able to secure contracts with large stadiums in the state early on which set me up to be stable and the opportunity to expand. I have enjoyed the unique opportunities being in the concession business has given me; from access to Broncos playoff games to concerts like Taylor Swift. I may be working, but it is in a pretty cool setting! I am very proud to be one of a handful of woman owned businesses in my industry.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I feel so lucky to live in Colorado, a beautiful state full of outdoor gems. When I host guests, I love to take them on a special hike to explore the mountains and fresh air of Colorado. You can find a hike almost anywhere in the state. Some of my favorites are the Manitou Incline, Spruce Mountain, Falcon Trail and any 14er. Colorado Springs has many non hiking opportunities too! The Broadmoor, Pikes Peak, the Air Force Academy and Garden of the Gods are among my favorite places.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so grateful for my three daughters. They are the light of my life and a driving force behind my success.
