We had the good fortune of connecting with Jason Romero and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jason, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Jason: CEO/Owner – “The success of our businesses and also seeing our customers enjoy our space, food, ambiance, etc. Ever since I joined the Campus Lounge team back in November of 2022, it’s been my goal to see this historic Denver spot continue to survive and thrive. We’ve made multiple additions in the past year, including an enclosed patio space, to allow more seating and TVs for our guests.”

William: Owner – “Seeing the business grow and our vision come to life over the last 10 years. Also, the joy that we bring to the customers and staff. Growing up in Denver, I always loved coming to Campus Lounge with my family and friends. I’m glad we can continue its legacy and allow more memories to be made here.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Jason: I started working in the restaurant industry in high school then I went to school and studied restaurant resort management. I started out as a busboy and quickly climbed the ladder by working every job from general manager to managing partner. I believe there’s something to learn from every position and all of these roles have helped shape me into the person I am today.

William: My background started working construction with my father in the Wash Park neighborhood my cousin from GB Fish N Chips. From there, I met many talented people along the way that would eventually help me build my first spot, Recess Beer Garden, from the ground up. The skills I’ve learned and the connections I’ve made along the way have helped me and my businesses continue to grow every year.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Jason: I’d start out the day by bringing them to Recess Beer Garden to enjoy some food and drinks on the patio. From there, we’d make our way downtown to watch a Colorado sports game (ideally the Nuggets!) before calling it a night.

William: I’d bring them to Recess Beer Garden to check out the patio and watch sports. Then, I’d bring them down to Campus Lounge to shoot some pool and grab dinner, as they have some of the best nightly food specials in town.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Jason: I’d like to shout out to my business partner and friend of almost 30 years, William Franklin, for trusting me to join this growing company and be a part of its success. Our individual skills and backgrounds compliment each other perfectly, and I’m excited to keep growing and building together.

William: I’d like to shoutout to all of my family and friends for all of their support from the very beginning. Not only have they believed in me, but they’ve all lended a hand and stepped up whenever needed to help me build my dreams. Our success wouldn’t be nearly as sweet without having them to share it with.
