We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Roubal and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Looking back, I’ve been a risk taker my entire life without even knowing it. I’ve always been a ‘free-spirit’ type of woman. I took my first real risk at the age of 23. I followed my dreams and moved to Los Angeles. I was young, driven and willing to take any challenge that came my way. I found my passion for Events and developed my career in the six years of living in Los Angeles. I moved to Denver at the age of 29. I took a huge leap of faith and left my job to find my true career path; Anna Rae Events. I truly believe the risks I’ve taken in life have led me on this wonderful journey and have guided me to where I’m meant to be.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Anna Rae Events is a wedding planning studio for romantic dreamers and visionaries. We specialize in Full-Service wedding planning to Day-of Coordination. We also offer Micro-Wedding packages for those couples that are looking for more of an intimate style wedding. We know it’s a huge chapter in a couple’s life, so it’s important to us to really connect and build a relationship with them. In building relationships with our clients, it allows us to understand their vision and make it come to life. Our goal is to always keep our couples stress-free and organized for their big day; we truly feel that is what sets us apart from others.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a huge foodie and are all about the experiences. So, when a friend is in town visiting the one thing I truly love doing is to wine and dine them with the best experiences in town. Here would be a short list of local spots I would take them: Sushi Den for the best sushi in town. Odyssey for the most authentic Italian. Avanti or The Source for some fun rooftop drinks. Downtown Arvada to have the charming, local experience. Visit RiNo Art District and explore the breweries. Los Chingones for some happy hour tacos and margaritas. Death & Co. for great cocktails. Taste the best California wines in Denver at Blanchard Wines at the Dairy Block. Highland Tap & Burger for the best burger in town. Visit Estes Park and take them into Rocky Mountain National Park. A hike around Lookout Mountain, as we’ll need to after all the food and drinks we’ll be having. Take a walk around Sloan’s Lake.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Jen Sincero, the writer of ‘You are a Badass at Making Money’ receives full credit for getting me to start my business. I was going through a rough patch; I just moved to Denver and did not know anyone. I left a toxic job that did not allow me to grow, so I was lost, needless to say. I picked up Jen Sincero’s book and I felt like she was in the room telling me to “snap out of it, get back up on that horse and stop with self-pity.” At this point, I was thinking of starting Anna Rae Events and this book gave me the confidence boost that I was looking for. Also, I could never forget to give a shoutout to my parents, my husband and my friends. If it wasn’t for the encouragement, love and support, I know Anna Rae Events would not exist.
