Meet Jennifer Solis | Event Stylist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Solis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always had a passion around event planning and styling. Each year for my children’s birthday’s I enjoyed styling and planning over the top themed parties. My family and friends always encouraged me to explore starting my own business, but between working a full-time job and being a wife and mother, I never thought it would be possible. After planning my daughter’s first sleepover, I realized this type of business didn’t exist in the New Mexico area and I was excited for this opportunity to bring something new and creative to my hometown! Since then, my business has evolved greatly. In addition to sleepovers, we offer luxury picnics, aesthetic modern bounce houses and style all events from weddings to baby or bridal showers. Combining my passion for event styling along with owning and creating something of my own has been the most rewarding part of my business!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Tents and Dreams, llc. is a luxury event styling business. It has evolved from styling children’s sleepovers, to styling all types of events including baby showers, bridal showers, birthdays and weddings. We even offer modern all white and pastel bounce houses!

I believe what sets my business apart from others is that this business is truly a passion of mine. I have an amazing career aside from my small business. This is something I get to do for myself, something I truly love and enjoy. Tents and Dreams, is a team of two. My husband and myself. For every event, you will see the two of us working to ensure every detail is perfect. Our events are never outsourced to other vendors. Each event is unique and having the honor to be trusted with these special occasions means the world to me.

The biggest challenge I faced with the business came right at the start. Tents and Dreams, llc was officially opened in January 2020. Very soon after, the world was struck by the COVID-19 pandemic. Originally, I created Tents and Dreams around planning and styling sleepovers. As the COVID-19 pandemic spread around the world and events quickly were cancelled, I realized that creating a venue for people to have the ability to be outdoors in the fresh air with their loved ones was something we all needed. That is when we began offering luxury picnics and styled elopements. At that time, Tents and Dreams was the only business offering luxury picnics and in the end this enormous challenge was a blessing in disguise! Shifting into luxury picnics and elopements allowed my business to grow in ways I had never imagined.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This shoutout is for my husband, Ric. Because of his support and encouragement I am able to have this business doing what I love.
